yesterday was so valentine-y.
I woke up and decided I was going to dress up 50's pin-up style complete with obscene green eyeshadow, do-rag, back-seam stocking, blah, blah, blah.
Went downstairs to the coffee shop and they were playing ESG. Got into a conversation w/ the cute barrista about them. He noticed I was carrying the dalek album ("from the filthy tongues of gods and griots") and we talked about that too. Got as far as across the street when I realized I had left my coffee on the counter. IDIOT. So I went back and sheepishly retrieved it.
That evening I was invited to dinner at a friend's house. Picked up a fifth of evan williams on the way and the guy at the counter was like "I can't sell this to you! You're trouble!" I laughed. He sold it to me.
Went to sleater-kinney. Great show. Miss portland sooooo much, though. The throng pushed me up to the very front. Corin and Janet were wearing little hearts painted on their faces. They got four couples up on stage from the audience and had a "slow dance competition" to "milkshake and honey." It was awesome. For their encore, I was like "MEMORIZE YOUR LINES!" which elicited bemused looks exchanged between corin and carrie. The guy standing next to me (in this super-rad home-made "KRS 4 EVAH" t-shirt) was like "YES!!!" and when they started playing "get up" he grabbed me and kissed me on the cheek. it was so cute. I wish s-k would play more from "the hot rock" at shows. it's such a rad album.
and to top it all off, tonight I'm going to go see tracy + the plastics at this awesome space called as220
whee!
