It got me to thinking (last night did) that it's time for an all night dance party with some tru-epic sets. The kind that you forget that you're dancing to because you're completely lost in the rhythm. I'm tired of the clubs closing at 3AM. I'm tired of going home while it's still dark. I'm tired of bars and liquor and the standing around sipping while everyone scopes everyone out. I want to go where they don't even sell alchohol, but fruit and smoothies and water and vitamins, and where people are looking to dance - not to "mingle" and not to "meet someone" but rather to simply enjoy the music and lose themselves.
I guess I miss parties. I don't think I've been to a true party since I went to school. That's too damn long.
On the playlist lately:
Fischerspooner, "Odyssey"
Daft Punk, "Human After All"
Royksopp, "The Understanding"
Four Tet, "Rounds" & "Everything Ecstatic"
Gorillaz, "Demon Days"
M83, "Before the Dawn Heals Us"
Prefuse73, "Surrounded by Silence"
Autechre, "Untilted"
The Faint, "Wet From Birth" & "Danse Macabre"
Meat Beat Manifesto, "Original Fire"
Mogwai, "Come On Die Young," "Happy Songs for Happy People," "Young Team" & "Kicking a Dead Pig"
Talking Heads, random assortment
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, random assortment
A lot of those are new to me. I'm not typically a Gorillaz fan but this album is pretty good. Same with Talking Heads & Meat Beat Manifesto: new to me in that it's the first that I've actually sought out their music to listen to of my own accord. I've heard them before, and liked, but never acquired for my own pleasure. I'd recommend the new Royksopp, Four Tet, Gorillaz, well actually most of the stuff up there. In particular, the Prefuse73, Autechre, Fischerspooner, Faint, Mogwai... You get the picture.
