Brad Warner just posted his most recent SuicideGirls.com piece: Buddhism is not Spirituality, with a bit of an add-on in his personal blog. As usual, he sums up things in pretty tidy fashion, as is his way. But I'd like to take a moment to expand on this idea a bit over in my personal blog. Go read if you're so inclined...

No sorry, he is too whupped for that.
zentrixter:
I'm not saying he is. But it's the prevailing theory. Or at least the most persistent one. I'm beginning to lean towards Gaeta...

I'm starting to be reminded as to why I left SG the first time...

Go buy this...

...NOW.

Actually, go buy two; keep one for yourself, and give one to a friend as a gift, with the proviso that they in turn need to buy a copy of it for someone else and turn THEM on to 1GL.

Everybody have a happy [whatever you are celebrating] and all that, from the Godless heathen. I plant on cleaning my kitchen. May get a bug up my butt to make bread.

Peace on Earth.

Make it real...

This is just an amazing documentary by and partly about Stephen Fry, one of my all-time favorite entertainers. This is in ten parts on YouTube. To say "I can relate" is an understatement...

Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive

Fail on the retreat front. We are getting hammered with phreak weather. Definately the worst snowstorm to hit PDX in my 9 years here. Craziness.

I hate it that it feels odd being stuck inside with my partner, knowing that we'll be divorced in a few weeks. Her GF is stuck in Sacramento, with no flights back until Tuesday at the earliest. Feels odd watching...

You too, Casino.

Speaking of "White Christmases"; it's STILL snowing here. This is the most snow PDX has seen in Decenber since 1968! There's a frackin' FOOT of snow outside my door. Holy !#%!!
madscience_7:
I hope that some of that snow makes it out here to the mountains.

BSG FTW! biggrin

RETREAT!!!

Well, the good kind (although if you ask somebody armed with a spoon while being shot at if their retreat is a "good" kind, they'll most likely say "Why yes. Yes it is...")

Anyway, baring weather (which is rather funky here in the PNW at the moment) I'll be gone from tomorrow (Fri) afternoon until (effectively) Monday morning on a weekend seshin (Zen meditation...

I was hit by a tractor trailer once during a snow storm. We were on the highway (me in the left lane, him in the center), when a car spun out in front of us in the center lane. The truck braked to slow his inevitable impact with the spinning car. When he hit the car, it slid him over into my lane, clipping the rear of my car and sending me spinning. I came to a stop facing head on into traffic and the truck was still sliding towards me - stopping only a few feet from my front bumper.

Staying home sounds like the right idea.

BTW - sorry to hear things are going such shit for you right now. Patience is definitely the answer, as aggravating as it may be at times.
zentrixter:
Thanks bro...

I've had the interesting joy of watching my kid try and eat vegetable soup with her freshly pierced tongue.

Yes, I had to use the stick blender... wink

_surreal_:
I didn't know you had a kid!
You've reminded me that I need to buy a part to fix my stick blender.
zentrixter:
Yeah, I have an 18-year-old step-daughter that's so much my kid that I most likely will legally adopt her sometime soon. That way if anything happens to me, she'll get my Social Security death benefit et al. I've been more her dad these last nine years than her bio-father ever even tried to be. I nearly lost her twice to really bad decisions, so having her back in my life means a lot to me. When I move sometime next spring, she'll live with me...
