Wow, I was having a very bad day in that last post. The truth of it is that the bad days are far less frequent now than they have been for the past fourteen years, and now I do have people who love me and help the best they can. I am lucky.

Today I'm having people over to my new place in Seattle to...

With a bit of warning, that's a not-too-expensive flight.

After reading the about page, my first reaction was, "It's google maps, but they spam me with "Special Offers"?

A better pitch may be needed. Or perhaps I'm just a cynical bastard.

I just made my last trip to Portland for a while. I got my car, made the flat tire stupid rental car someone else's problem, spent $50 on Cajun food and saw some people I'm definitely going to miss.

I'm glad to be home, though. I'm happy that Seattle seems like home already.

If you love Tom Baker, you'll love this French Doctor Who poster.

Now that the kinks have been ironed out, Seattle is splendid. I've been buying lots of amazing fresh food at the market, and doing amazing things with it. More to come once I've gone back to Portland to get my car.

Question: how many maintenance requests can we fit into the first two days in a new apartment?

Answer: So far eleven, but the day is not yet over.

Strangely, we're still happy with the place and are glad we moved.

Thank'ee. I'll need all the publicity I can get!
mistersatan:
Yeah, that sounds good. Gimme a call when you guys are near and you can tell me all about how much better Seattle is now that you're back. wink

I love that I live in a world where my favorite TV show can be a crazy Japanese day-long sporting event. I am seriously mad for Sasuke. I also love that I can sit in my living room and watch it, complete with Japanese commercials, rooting for my favorite competitors. You know how people who take football really seriously yell at the screen and stuff?...

Fortunately that already ranks among my skillsets. Making the hollandaise too.

Well, we now have a lovely new apartment in Seattle. It was originally set up as a handicapped apartment, so it has two peepholes in the front door; one at eye level, and one (as my husband says) at butt-showing level. Our building also has puppy social time on the roof every Sunday. I think I'm going to be happy there.
lemonkid:
Maybe you can have a puppy bowl up there

It was great to meet you too, surprise little meetings like that always make me pretty pleased. Thanks for the kind words about my art, it means a lot.

Also, I'm really glad you guys found a good apartment!

A strange man in a yellow hat has been staring at me and stroking a jumbo box of Cheerios for about twenty minutes. I'm a little creeped out.

Oh, great. Now he's whispering to the box. He must be reporting back to his superiors about me.

Is there a curious monkey in the picture?

Mmmmm, thanks but no.

We have a go-ahead.

Goodbye, Portland. You've been unnecessarily harsh, and I don't think I'll miss you. This whole year has been for the most part deeply unsatisfying.

I've never been, it was closed last time I was in Seattle, maybe we can go together w/ the hubby next time I'm in town. I'm going to be back in Victoria in the fall, so a Seattle trip isn't out of the question.
atomicant:
we will miss you!

I hate waiting. I hate being between things. I know everything is going to work out just fine, but right now we're in this horrible, churning limbo between the past and the future where everything keeps getting delayed and waylaid. There's no clear go-ahead, and it's really wearing me thin.

On the other hand, I'm pretty much spending every moment of every day with my...

My new neighbor has lived below me for only a week, but already I know so many things about her:

-She loves wind chimes in great quantities, and has multiple sets of them hanging underneath my bedroom windows.
-Her cat is in heat.
-She thinks that midnight is an appropriate time for a salsa techno dance party.
-She thinks two in the morning is an...

This sounds like a job for high strength epoxy and/or fire.

I think you will find that you won't have much luck finding help from animal control for that. Maybe leave multiple spay & neuter coupons at her door. You can get them off the Oregon Humane Society website!

This might just be the most beautiful song I've ever heard:

Dear strippers,

Here's a tip from me to you: push-ups are not sexy. Not sexy at all. In fact, they're kind of creepy. Please refrain from doing them, especially over my steak dinner.

Kisses,
Keri
