So I have been try to grow my hair out a little bit, it was really short back in the winter. I love it short, but I always grow it out a little and then cut it again smile So I went in yesterday to get a trim and have the back shortenend up a bit, and now all of my hair is significantly shorter. a lot of stylists think its all about them. thats why i go to barbers only. stylists either don't get it short enough, or too short, depending on what THEY feel. smile

and stylists cost more.

That happened to me too when I first moved here. I needed a hair cut, said I wanted some layers and to have fun with it, and out came a mullet. I am going to the girl that Daniel has used in the past and she does a great job. It's just the matter of finding someone who you can get along with and communicate with.

Yes I know. I have all but fallen straight off the face of the planet. I got way too busy during finals and haven't been on the computer much with all this hot ass weather we've been having. I did find a place to live, its a little ways from school but I will have a private bedroom and bathroom which I think...

Good Lord, I haven't updated in ages. That's because I have a ridiculously busy life. I can't wait til this semester is over, but I don't know why because next year is going to be like 8 times worse.

The apartment thing is going ok, got my name on the waitlist at a place in Superior. Although I requested a copy...

I have 16 this semester. The problem is that a couple of them are so hard/so much work that I'm losing my mind! smile surreal smile

I worry about short leases because every year rent has gone to renew the lease. I want a 9 to 12 month lease so that I dont have to move during school, cause there is just no way I could do that. Honestly, I'm kind of one of those argumentative prelaw assholes and I get a bit of a kick out of fighting with landlords. I think my biggest problem is that law school tuition is a lot of money and I'm going to be short on $$$ next year so I'm just trying to find the best deal for my money and not enjoying it...

Thanks for the encouragement smile

hang tight Vegangirl. This too shall pass. kiss

Apartment shopping is really shitty. Really not my favorite activity of the year.

Are there any CU students who live in Broomfield/Superior/Westminster and commute to CU every day? Do you do it by bus? How do you feel about it?

I think I may need to live outside Boulder next year and I'm feeling kind of nervous about it.

Hey thanks to everyone who participated in my little survey smile And thanks for the offers that came a little late, still very appreciated!

This study is looking at how attitudes predict likely behaviors, especially in relation to attitudes and behaviors regarding gender. If anyone has any questions please let me know.

Also as a bit of a disclaimer, this is just an undergrad psych project...

Has anyone else noticed all of the racist assholes on this website?

For being such an open minded alternative culture kind of place there sure are a lot of ignorant bigots.

whats racism? is it the lady that walked by me at the mall today and in answer to her sons question of ," why does he have that on?"(pointing toward the black lady who had one of those kid harness' on her son), she answered" because they're animals"? would that ugly bitch qualify as racist or a bigot, or both?
burningkrome:
Bootstraps...not in the least. What I am saying is that, the problem is poverty and non-education...not race.

If you live in a shithole, it is not because you are <race>...it is because you are poor, and uneducated and likely have been raised by generations of poor and uneducated. Frequently, due to a regions history, one (or more) minorities will make up a large majority of the poor, uneducated population.

But their race has nothing to do with what's currently holding them down...it's their poverty and lack of education that's holding them down. As long as the problem gets addressed as an issue of race, nothing will be accomplished...as race is not ultimately the problem.

However, there are endless resources to end poverty and ignorance, which is the problem. These resources need to be implemented by both the individual (the so-called bootstraps) as well on a governmental scale to wipe out the poverty and non-education that is propagating continued poverty and non-education.

As for the definition of racism, I just think it's critical to the next step in racial unity to realize that identifying an individual, positively or negatively, and making assumptions about what their culture is based on race is just as much a form of racism as is "...because they are animals..."

We will only be a united community once race holds no bearing one way or another and cultural/religious preferences are accepted on an individual by individual basis with total disregard to genetic heritage.

Man I would love to hang with the CO folk sometime. Maybe next weekend? My life is insane right now!

I haven't decided what to do in law school yet. It doesn't matter for the moment because first years pretty much have to take the same standard set of courses. I could see myself doing Native American Law, Environmental Law, or even though...

Happy St. P's Day! My friend Lauren's headed over and then we're gonna get some brew @ the Corner Bar. My theory is that it will be the least crowded place to hang. Let's hope so. Enjoy the weekend. I am gonna be studying my nuts off. ARRR!!!

No the CU law school is not too shabby (relates to last entry). It is in the top 50 (Says US News and World Report) and the Native American and Environmental Law programs are excellent.. Plus they have offered me a pretty decent merit based scholarship so I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing wink

Has anyone read about the shit that happened on...

The more I hear about Churchill makes me want to read his stuff. Do you happen to have any? Never heard about that, but I just did (googled it) Congrats again on CU! Have you decided what you are going to specify/direct yourself in, or how does it work in Law school???
andersin:
Congrats on the scholarship too! Are we ever gonna hang? My friend Max is playin' a show tomorrow night at theLarimer Lounge. If you want to go I can put some tickets aside for you at the door. Word.

I'll do this in sections.

1. I got into my number 1 law school choice YAY! smile

2. I have officially stopped purchasing sweatshop made clothing.

3, I got my first semi-harassing anti-vegan email today (not from anyone on SG). Though I was angry at first, I kind of like it now. It makes me feel pretty cool actually wink

4. Thanks to the_smaller_than I have...

Congratulations on non-support of sweatshop labor. Curious though what you think about the freegan option? What if that sweatshop garment was found or second-hand? What then?

As a side note, I had a friend once who only stole from the Gap. She gave the vast majority of her grift away to friends and felt it was a very ethical way of punishing them for their choices in business practice.

politrix:
oh yeah... and I wanted to throw this your way too.

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.

Like the winds of the seas are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through the life:
Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

Welp, I am now 22. And for the first time in my whole life I actually feel older on my birthday. Maybe because 21 was such a big deal and now its just like....whatever. My friend refers to 22 as "the birthday that starts birthdays which no longer matter."

I have also had about enough of people being assholes about the fact that I...
