Heyho. Another journal entry spews forth...

How is everyone? Well, I hope. I'm not doing so bad, meself. It's quite nice to temporarily put the job-hunting pressure to one side and resign yourself to the fact little is likely to happen over the festive period. Getting into the 'festive period' is pretty much what I've been doing biggrin

I'm looking forward to our little meet on...

Only one of the best weekends EVER. I really needed it actually, as my job woes were severely doing my nut in... biggrin

Thursday was one of the best nights out I've ever had (excluding my brief, torrid love affair in the hypnotic city of Seville some years back! AHEM! blush ).

We headed into Manc to find some bar where Goldblade and The Hyperjax were playing....

You've been to Seville? In the words of Life of Brian "oooh, you luck bastard" I'd love to visit there.

The area around Barrow sounds good, sort of place that would appeal to me. And of course Barrow is an old word for a burial mound. I like the fact that a lot of England's place names have a story and meaning in the names. Although knowledge of that seems to be fading in general frown that maybe just in London though, which I consider secretly to inhabited by a majority of ill educated mornons. I used to live near a place called Deansbrook, which in older times was called Danesbrook since the river was larger and Norse longships used to sail up it to raid. I like things like that. Have a good weekend mate.

are you serious??!!!! eeek love that would so be OK!!! i would love to see the pics even the pre-drawings. i'm on my way out the door back to work again; but i had to stop by first thing and say thank you.

i never thought of myself as a teacher type though. so i'm really really curious to see how it comes out.

Um... Guess what. I'm unemployed again. I worked a trial period at the new place and found it lacking in job security, and really erratic hours. I ended up building PCs and tweaking Apple Macs, just like at my last place. Shook hands and ended it on friday. I've got some more interviews from 'el casa de trabajo' today. I've posted off another rotten batch....

So how did the club night go smile I miss the feeling of heart beating at 180bpm when close to that someone special...

I don't know if you've ever played or heard about a really old game called "Barbarian" on the Amstrad CPC6128 and Spectrum (yes, THAT old). I've got very fond memories of that particular game because I think it was the first ever where you could decapitate your opponent. So I did decapitate all my friends, which was always highly satisfying biggrin Is there a game like that these days?

And finally, my project is running - slowly - because I am a lazy fuck, no need to pretend anything else frown I need some more spare time also, it must be said smile

Good luck on the job search

Wooooohoo!
I'm supremely glad they've implemented the final tweaks in the SG interface which were bugging me. The friends and 'fave girls' list ABOVE the journal! Hurrah! Well done team!

Well? The weekend to end all weekends just shot by... I'm a little too bewildered by recent preceedings to be completely ecstatic but feeling 'damn happy' would be a cool phrase to use biggrin

Friday morning,...

How'd the first day on the job go?? Congrats on that. Man, that GTO sounds fucking sweet. What color is it? Gotta say, I'm a bit of a Dodge fan myself. A fellow engineer at work has a restored PURPLE '72 'Cuda that just purrs like a one-ton kitten. Of course, nothing can beat a good ole scoot.
poprock:
Fuckin' A matey.

I demand that we meet for beer sometime around the holidays, so that you can tell me all about the new job, and I can nod and make encouraging noises whilst downing pint after pint of the amber stuff.

Now excuse me whilst I fuck off to a design/architecture show en route to the Therapy? gig.

What the heck is going on? I know I've been shirking my journal duties recently but... Crazy! I'm 80% sure I saw issie on the 68 bus through Buile Hill today. I pop on the site to ask if she's back from NY at the mo... GONE! Just like that. Didn't even say goodbye! I hope she comes back soon! My friends list is getting...

oh man both of those are both so distressing and this is the first i've heard about them being gone. frown frown oh man that sucks... i was coming over here all happy and bllushing that you want to see my naked butt (i saw that thread) and i find two of my good friends on here are inactive. maybe that just means their account has gone grey not that they quit the site all together. let's cross our fingers and toes that they reactivate really soon.
cherry:
I'm still here, but I'm not even on your friends list tongue

New Deal is the biggest pile of crap ever. I know because 1. I've been on New Deal and 2. because I've worked for the Job Centre. From both points of view it's a waste of time... it's only there to shove people into jobs they don't want to do.

When I was on New Deal I was forced onto "bookkeeping" and "IT" courses, despite the fact I'm a practical whizkid at computers and I hate bookkeeping... all because they were the types of jobs (office work) that are plentiful and they can shove me into. They're quite honest with it working like that behind the scenes too.

I wasn't allowed onto New Deal for musicians because all the rest of my band were over 25 and 2 were employed and after I was "found" employment I found out that I could have had them pay for me to go on a week long piercing course to become a piercer!!!! GEIGH!!

Anyways... I hope things look up for you soon kiss

Aww. Thanks for your kind words, guys. It was indeed a journal entry written on an 'off night', ruined by annoying company and predominantly crap music. I've decided over these past few days, Rockworld is about as cutting-edge and 'alternative' [bleh! biggrin] as 'Burtons menswear'. Apologies to any advocates of Burton's "fantastic outfits at competitive prices..TM" Maybe I just need a break from the place?...

Hey, don't knock the Crystal Maze. Working on the sets for that kept me in rent for a year smile
maelwys:
And besides there are worse sets than the Crystal Maze. The Adventure Game and most episodes of Dr Who spring to mind.

Rather than making use of the plant Woad, a process which is most longwinded and whiffy, I cheat and used plain old blue face paint. I must try harder next year. I'm impressed about you knocking a few years off of some codgers, no such luck here with that since the oldies hide after about 7pm in Harrow. Best I managed to do was have a bit of a bop to Manowar.

Wedding speeches are usually horrible to do. I missed doing one at my brothers wedding cos I was in the car park having a smoko with his brother-in-law. He missed his speech as well smile

Well... A week passes. It is INDEED time I knuckled down to my SG duties, and updated. Thing is, I wish I had news to tell you. Short of buying a complete [and MOT'ed] BSA Bantam motorbike for 20 from Ebay, not much has happened. I hate using words without reason. This seems almost an excercise in futility...

If I apologise in advance for the...

Can sympathise - I was refused entry to a rock club last night for "not being a regular" - talk about a surefire way to do yourself out of business.

To give you some words of wisdom from one of my heroes Ginger Wildheart, "Take your time, speak your mind/Believe their politics and they'll push you on under/Be inspired, be a freak with pride" Pretty much my life philosophy that. smile

Stay crazy man and I hope you have some better nights out in the near future. smile
poprock:
Nights out?

Hell, I've been avoiding those lately. Every time I show up someplace around Glasgow, I drink too much to relieve the boredom and futility of it all... then I go home, wake up pained in the morning and go back to work.

My work is far more fulfilling than my social life at the moment.

But... the above makes me sound like a self-indulgent teenager, which I most certainly am not.

So there's a deeper cause to it all.

I blame music.

Music is life. Music is energy. Music is the be all and the end all. Oh, alright, so it ain't, but fuck... it looks good written down that way. Let's just accept that it's important for the psychological well being of guys like us.

Lately, I don't dance as much as I used to.

When in a nightclub, I aim for the bar rather than the dancefloor.

This is how I come to end up drunk.

By which point I have no co-ordination, and don't want to dance, so back to the bar I go.

Viscious circle, and the reason I end up with hangovers.

The answer then, is to dance.

Throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care.

I need to relax my tolerance level for music that ain't 'mine'. I need to relocate the joy I used to feel when lost in the beat.

Maybe that'd help you too. Fuck knows, it can't hurt.

How are you all? Well I hope. I'm not so bad. Recovering from a bout of the sniffles. Luckily for me it was nowhere near as bad as my friends and family had. We're thankfully all on the mend. I reckon it may be something to do with shifts in temperature. Goodness, its cold out, today! Been too busy coughing to go out on any...

Update.

It's been another reasonably uneventful week at la casa de vamp. Been for a few good bike rides, shuffled round like a zombie for a few days and managed not to get ill as the thousands of others in my sphere of influence seem to have done.

Has anyone ever had a period of losing all dexterity and skill you know you've still got?...

Ah.. Another journal entry full of nothing. As usual. The past few days has been OK. Other than my folks piling on the pressure for me to be gainfully employed, that is. It seems the ENTIRE Manchester design community has gone 'arse over' and stopped hiring. I personally blame MOONFISH for just being the megolithic ubercorp and snaffling all the good design contracts. Pretentious t*ts!...

i do like sg v.3. wasn't happy for a couple of days immediately following the release of it, though. mostly having to do with the disorienting new colour scheme. but now it's new enough to feel fresh and progressive, while maintaining that air of familiar intimacy i obsess over daily.

emo grrls are quite hot. damn. and i am so ignorant that the emo music scene is actually still quite interesting to me, despite how often some people make fun of it. is this bliss...? prob'ly.

me weekend always consists of work. ick. i swear i was probably disgustingly white-collar in a past life... not that i balk at hard work. but i do often wish i could just lie on cushions all day long while other people tend to the daily things i forget are important. what a lazzzy bitch i am today! perhaps i should get some kip and stop typing.
