Lappy is pissed. It is too hot for her, so she keeps falling asleep at inopportune moments and cannot be woken for love nor money. She will only work in an air-conditioned environment, like the library. Is this a subtle hint that I haven't been reading enough books?

Don't look at me like that, Lappy!

So, um, yeah. I am a huge nerd. I talked...

And don't forget, you can always use cookie sheets as a neat heat deflector!

But I personally prefer this.

I shouldn't waste my time on this, but it does always bother me when people criticize my writing. There is a jerk in my d-land guestbook who keeps leaving comments with no associated contact info (or, worse, fake contact info). I'm chalking him up as one of the internet's many idiots who just want to destroy things, but it still gets on my nerves when...

i've been reading your journal a bit, you seem like a really interesting person, would you mind if i added you as a friend?

SG is spoiling me. I have always despised guestbook comments by anonymous jerkoffs, but here *only* members can comment. That's so much nicer than the idiots I seem to attract with my d-land journal, who are all out to pick fights with me over my personality, my style, my writing, pretty much anything petty and pathetic. I don't write in an online journal because I...

Death by spam to all net trolls! Such a waste of bandwidth, couldn't agree more. I also love SG for the same reason.

Soooo.... what sort of smut do you like best?

"Now, fake orgasms... what's the word for that?"

Downright evil.

Now *that's* interesting... I filled out this online petition and, using my pathetic French skills, looked up my 'circonscription' (which is apparently my voting district). What's my riding? WESTMOUNT-ST. LOUIS!

Yes, folks, I am a Westmounter. Of sorts. Of course, I can't fucking vote in Canada, being a dirty American, but that just makes me laugh. I live in the riding where most Prime Ministers...

Yikes! Sorry you had to see that, but thanks for not staring.

I don't understand the whole gawking thing myself, or what people hope to get out of seeing something so tragic.

At least some law enforcement agencies and ambulance techs are trying to fight the problem, especially when it slows down traffic. Police in and around Boston have started using seven foot tall shields that prevent passing motorists from seeing anything.

As for gawking, the word stems from what people once called their little-used left hand - their "gawk hand". It soon became a synonym for ungainly people: louts, oafs and all around meatheads and lummoxes.

I swear I had something meaningful to say when I hit 'update,' but it seems to have run off and left me while I was reading kaff's entry. Dammit!

Oh yeah! Apparently I was drunkerer (yes, that IS a word) than I thought on Friday night, cus apparently the drummer in the band offered to show me his tool. He emailed me this and asked...

Heh, oops. I hate the Canadian banking system, if I haven't mentioned it before. I deposited a money order on Saturday and figured I would be able to access that cash by Monday, Tuesday at the latest.

WRONG! In Canada, anything you put in the ABM is held for 5 business days, regardless. Why they can't install a button that says 'cash? cheque? money order?'...

An over draft protects you from bouncing checks and taking out money before it's deposited. Some banks offer this.

here's a better example:

overdraft protection

A checking account feature in which a person has a line of credit to write checks for more than the actual account balance. Instead of getting charged about $25 for bouncing a check, overdraft protection will in effect provide the account holder with an instant loan. The interest rate will be extremely high, but if it is paid off quickly it is usually much less expensive than the bounced check fee. Some banks do charge a fee when an account balance falls below zero even if the account holder has overdraft protection, but it's still significantly less than the bounced check fee.

Do what I've been meaning to do for ages. Switch to a credit union for your day to day banking and switch to ING Direct for your savings etc.

Credit Unions are WAY nicer to their customers and have lower fees.

ING has the highest savings interest rate in the country and you can do all sorts of banking via ABM and phone and online.

Check them out and tell HSBC to go fuck themselves. You'll thank yourself.

Today, work was actually fun. Yeah, it was still data entry, but it involved compiling a list of victims from a certain crime show. Which is kind of morbid, if you think about it (especially when I had to email my boss to ask, 'Hey, do you want just the murder victims or all victims? Like... some of them are just kidnapped, whereas most are...

A friend invited me to join her tonight at 10 at the Cock and Bull. Apparently her friend's band is playing. I have no idea whether they're any good, but I was promised free beer. She's also been trying to get me to go for weeks, so I guess I should go. I mean, if you don't support other people, then they won't support you,...

The subject of embarrassing sex stories reminded me of one that a friend of mine once told me:

Many moons ago, this friend was working as a dispatcher for a security firm when a call came in to replace two guards who were the only people guarding a somewhat important suite of offices. One of the guards was injured and his cohort joined him at the hospital.

Panic! Calls like this dont come in often and they usually mean BAD news. Did someone break into the building and tussle with one of the guards? Did one of their weapons go off by accident?

After a few hours, the dispatcher learned the full story from the replacement guards that were sent to the scene:

While doing their rounds, one of the guards discovered a box of discarded fluorescent tubing.

So, after spending about 45 minutes playing Star Wars, and using the tubes as light sabers, these guards decided to come up with other uses for these lights.

Thats when one of the guards suggested: I wonder how far up my ass you can stick one of these things?

His partner obliged.

But unfortunately rectal muscles are quite powerful and the tube was very fragile. The fluorescent light shattered in his colon, exploding glass everywhere, and requiring him to be rushed to hospital.

Well, I promised not to change a word of this, so here goes:

Writers have personas. This journal is, in some respects, very honestly me. But I filter things, because I have an ego that is easily bruised, because I have a specific story that I want to tell, because I don't want to give everything away. Is the writer essentially an actor, with just...

Well, kaff and I didn't make it to the open mic this week, but maybe next time. Instead, we had a strangely productive meeting. We usually go off on tangents that involve ogling Suicide Girls, talking about boys, or both. We still did that (mmm, Fractal), but also got some work accomplished as well. I think.

SA called to ask what I was doing after...
