I am at the stage of monthly updates lately, but I couldn't even manage that last month. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it didn't help that after spending a lot of January and February away I had things to write about and pictures to show off. Not so much this last 4-6 weeks. Just back... Read More
I got back the other day from a month away. Vietnam pics in last update, and some more pics to follow. Stockholm was the next destination -- quite a contrast, snowy, grey, beautiful. I rugged up in stripey longjohns, a scarf, hat and gloves, and explored the town when I wasn't visiting the Institute that I was... Read More
I have been busy doing not much (first few weeks of January), which could fall into the category of recovering from 2006, and have more recently been travelling. This is a three-leg trip: Vietnam again (I'm halfway through a two week stint here) and then on to Stockholm, then finally New Zealand. Back in Sydney mid-February.
I've just had a birthday, as some of you very kindly acknowledged. Thank you all so much.
I am not sure I have anything profound to say in this update. That's been kind of an issue lately in general, as I am mostly absorbed with work, fighting fights, managing squabbles and tantrums, and battling for resources. It may be that the year ends well ...... Read More
Work is still occupying most of my time and energy, which is other than how I'd like it to be.
So, if you'll all forgive me, something of a lame edit, relying on the simple pleasures of Youtube to keep you entertained in the absence of anything entertaining from me.

I wish I could send you a prize for being the first to say' congratufuckinglations.' And the lyrebird: "copying the sounds of all the other birds around him... that was a camera shutter" what?! Nature. What a trip.
Later and lamer than usual. All I do these days it seems is either work, or fretting about work. I'm very boring these days, more so than usual. I've been worse than usual, if that's possible, at being good at commenting in journals and replying to comments left here. I'm never the best, but I've been really bad lately. Hmmmm.
That remake is so good. So good. I must have the mp3 and learn the tabs...once I get a guitar again and actually follow through with learning how to play.
And about your girl: I gotta say- not many people get to fall in love with someone they admire and respect. My husband has done some stupid shit in the more than 11 years I've known him- (for instance) But more often than not, he's such a good man. He probably doesn't know it- because I don't do a good enough job telling him but I respect him more than anyone I know. Anyway, you're lucky.
Last week was Kyoto. This week and next = Vietnam. I am just a wandering minstrel, and net connectivity is spasmodic, hence my comparative absence/silence around this place.
T-shirts in English in Japan are wonderfully odd. One girl in Kyoto had a very girlie-girl-pink t-shirt with the slogan:
LOVE
ME
BOYS
MY
GIRLS
on the front, and "HONEY" in smaller letters followed by a heart... Read More
I'm back, at least for a wee while ... there's no need to talk about where I've been and how I'm doing. I just will be very scarce around these parts, necessarily and unavoidably.
But thanks for missing me

Then she watched some David Attenborough, because the... Read More
