Hello to all. good to be back on after a few week absence. went to Quincy, IL and St. Louis, MO this last weekend. Stayed with a friends grandparents and had a lot of great Greek food. Didn't get to spend much time in St. Louis, but the arch is amazing. Will go back sometime and spend more time exploring the various areas of the...

almost friday. I like friday test, means I don't have to study on the weekend.

I need to get a digital camera, or get more pics switched over to the computer.

so, nothing new to say?

Hi , thanks for the comments in m'journal! For digital cameras, I'd recommend an Olympus C-50 Zoom. I think you'd struggle to get more bangs for your buck. Super compact but loads of useful features (including a wee remote control) and good resoltuion (5 meg) and pretty affordable compared to some other stuff, I think. wink

Hope the studies are going well! smile

What a great friday night. I just managed to piss off my girlfriend enough that she hung up on me. So here's a question. When you've completely destroyed your credibility with someone, how do you recover it?

two classes down, ten more to go. I have 3 days and nothing planned. I really should make plans for these 3 day weekends so I don't just waste them.

oh well. I will come up with something. maybe go to a lake, do some hiking and playing with the snakes eeek .

just found out that one of my best friends growing up (from 2nd grade thru high school) died in a helicopter accident last friday. I request a moment of silence from all who read this to honor Quinton Costello.

thanks to all
beatrice:
he has such a great name. i'm sorry he died.
ratoncitoperez:
That's sad news, I'm sorry to hear that. Accidents like that are so arbitrary. A person very close to me was similarly lost in a random way - such a waste, but no way to have known what was coming.

I think I need to try and find a new profile pic. current one seems a bit out of place.

I am so sore. Sunday I spent about 6 hrs on a lake kayaking, then yesterday went mtn biking with a small group that was way out of my range for the shape I'm in. They actually all train together for adventure racing. The challenge,...

Are you also asking ME where I am? Looks like I got the same entry as beatrice...
I'm in TN, still in the US for now. I'm leaving for Houston on Sunday and after a week there, I'm off to Iraq for a year.
No motorbike for a whole year...sigh...frown
Unless I rent something when I take my vacation after 4 months in Iraq.
I'm thinking about heading to Amsterdam for 2 weeks!!
biggrin

Adventure racing eh? Thats pretty extreme isnt it trekking, mountain biking et al over a period of several days & stuff? I wouldnt be too worried about not keeping up with those guys! shocked

Good books? Heres a few suggestions: Foucaults Pendulum (Umberto Eco ISBN 0-09928715-3) is a great novel Im just finishing highly recommended, as is all Ecos stuff. For a more factual read, try Easy Riders, Raging Bulls (Peter Biskind, ISBN 0-7475-4421-2), a highly amusing account of Hollywood during the 60s and 70s. Let me know what sort of stuff youre into and Ill see if I can come up with some good suggestions.

Thanks btw for the comment in mjournal. Regrettably I didnt get to ascend any of the Himalayn peaks, but I did get to two of the base camps Annapurna and Machhapuchhre, which at around 4,100 metres were a good bit higher than most of our European peaks though. So I guess I was happy with that for now... smile

Can't believe it's Thursday already. Been a pretty good week, nothing exciting except the weather.

I love the big thunder storms this area gets. I would like to chase them and see if I could catch a tornado.
beatrice:
and what would you do with it then?

Well, it's a Monday. Don't you just hate when something comes along and proves just how foolish some quick decisions turn out to be. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks for the tips about touring on the PCH in response to my post on teh SGMC group back in March - wasn't able to respond sooner as i've been out of the Country - much appreciated! smile

Well, it's been a pretty good weekend. Went kayaking on the river Saturday and bouldering today. The weather is windy, cloudy and a great temp. Not bad.

Wish I could say the same for my friend.

say what for who?
