So..I've been in Alberta for 2.5 weeks and I am totally miserable here. I am really thinking this whole move thing is a really bad idea.. I have changed my plans to just staying for the summer. The whole idea of becoming a medic to work on the oil rigs was a very bad not well thought through idea. I don't...

All experiences shape who you will become, note that this is passing one not a permanent one, then make the most of the adventure! Never dwell on should have could haves, they take your focus off the path in front of you and that can lead you somewhere much worse. Visit the mountains, Kananaskis, west Edmonton mall, the Calgary stampede....  This province has so much to enjoy beneath the oily surface and now you have a certain amount of freedom to enjoy it!

Ems in alberta is all province run now. Edmonton is always hiring medics if your still interested. I'm an EMT in Edmonton.

Well...I'm on day 5 of a 30 day challenge I made up for myself because I want to be healthier and get in better shape. I decided to do this and am actually sticking to it for more then 1 day(so far) after looking at myself in the mirror and just not liking what I say. I seem to have gotten quite...

Well, I've made up my mind. I will be moving to Alberta in May. Road tripping out there with my best friend who is like a brother to me. Even has a house with a room and my own bathroom to live! 2 months until I move! So excited...really hoping this change will help me. All my friends and family so it's...

I don't think life will be easy anywhere. Overall it's the change that will be good for me.

So..the last two days I was at a veterinary technician conference. A few of the lectures I enjoyed, but overall it made me realize I need a break from the whole veterinary field....I've been volunteering or working in clinics since I was 12! Almost 20 years! In other words...I am 98% set on going with my previous blog of moving to...

Thank-you for your advice, I will definitely keep it in mind. I've already set my plans to move out west and have a place to live already that is actually really economical(moving in with a really dear friend). I can do many other jobs out there other then a medic on the rigs, I know I def. don't want to be an EMT..I'm not sure I would even get a job as one being so petite. I just want to go out there for a bit and get my debt said of and save a good amount of money up. And just really need a break and change in my life..

Getting on with a good company is key out here, live in Calgary or Edmonton and the company will fly you in for your work! Air quality at the plants is questionable at best but it really is limited to the site, and COL outside of Fort Mac is pretty decent. As for swarms of men...  That's EVERYWHERE, guys here are no better or worse than anywhere else, in fact AB has been ranked one of the friendliest provinces in Canada and a prefered tourist destination with Edmontons farmers market and festivals being among the best in the world!!!

I am officially done with winter!

Done with the shitty driving conditions and the snow squalls and white outs. Done with almost hitting cars that appear out of nowhere because other drivers are too stupid to turn their lights on. Done with spending 6 hours stuck in a truck trying to get home when it should of only taken just over an hour! Done with...
