I once shared a cab with Ryan, the founder of Pitchfork. It was 2 am, pouring rain, and after closing time in Chicago, after a facemeltingly good show by Cheap Time, Jay Reatard, and King Khan & the Shrines. We were both staying in hotels in Downtown Chicago, past the Rock and Roll McDonald's made famous by Wesley Willis and R. Kelly. He was staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. LAME. (I was staying at the James Hotel because the only other non-chain option for me was the Chambers, and I'm allergic to Damien Hirst. I'm sorry, I can't stay in a hotel that features Hirst's formaldehyde bullshittery and Evan Penny's creeeeeeeeepy sculptures in the lobby. What would Billy Childish do? He wouldn't stay at the Chambers. Besides!! J. Mascis, the White Wizard, stayed at the James Hotel. I shared an elevator with him and his beautiful wife. It was amazing.)

Anyway, Pitchfork employs a cool guy. Who, oddly, enough, I met through SG. This guy!

Would you consider calling in to the Best Show on WFMU with Tom Scharpling tonight? I am also trying to get Nick Flanagan of Brutal Knights and Pink Eye from Fucked Up to call in and do a rap battle.

There's going to be a six hour extravaganza!
