if you've been diggin springstein's "nebraska" record, which i just love, & not just cuz i'm a native cornhusker, be sure to check out the short essay "four more years" and others about 'the boss' by greil marcus. they were republished in RANTERS & CROWD PLEAERS: PUNK IN POP MUSIC, 1977-92, a book that was republished by Harvard University Press as IN THE FASCSIT BATHROOM, PUNK IN PUP MUSIC, 1977-92. the book is just great on the whole, with other great rock crit on PiL, New Order, the Mekons, & Elvis Costello among others.
anyway, if you've got any recommended reading, lemme know.
