Sadly, Smash Bros is February. I think the real reason it was pushed was not due to adding more characters, but just Mario Galaxies was being overshadowed by it.

For some reason, possibly that I'm technologically impaired, at least when it comes to tinkering with the insides of a device like the iPhone, I can't bring myself around to doing the 1.1.1 update bit. Now if someone here had the experience doing it I would take the thing tomorrow right after picking it up to them, but for some reason i don't want to damage my moste expensive toy.

You did the right thing. You would have looked like a huge asshole when they found the mistake and it's 6 months later. Try to explain then how you didn't realize you were getting paid $x.xx more for 6 months. "gee, i thought they gave me a raise and didn't tell me" probably wouldn't cut it.
