sonic discourse: Rithma -- the new simple (Joshua's main mix) (tweekin)

just bought some new records today. the track listed above is one of those, and after coming home from a long night of work, it's doing a lot for me right now. this track is the essence of house music for me . . . deep, funky, emotive, spiritual yet without being serious.

being...

I love getting tattooed. I love the process, the pain, and (hopefully) the outcome.

I love the bad things in life. I love the downs. They're completely necessary. They build character and teach you to appreciate the good things in life.

Yes, breaks...mmmm indeed. Especially Adam. We brought him out a couple of years ago at the DNA. It was awesome, a couple of weeks after BM. We're trying to get him out again (to play with Phil Smart) but dates are being worked on. Either before or after BM. I hope for before.

vibrations: Plump DJ's -- Elastic Breaks . . . badass, plain and simple.

A long weekend. started off DJ'ing on Friday night, stopped by the afterparty at Mezzanine for the B.F.D show. very scenesteresque . . . i.e. lots of ironic trucker hats and requesite '80's accoutrement. you know the vibe is going to be weird when two people are getting dragged out by bouncers...

i had my kung fu tournament over the weekend. i ended up being in four events and it went well. i got one first place, two second places, and a third place.

the first place was in push-hands. push-hands is based on tai-chi, where two people face each other, with their arms in front of them...

A strong Samurai comes to the wise man and says, "Tell me the nature of heaven and hell." The roshi looks at him in the face and says, "Why should I tell a miserable, disgusting, slob like you?" The Samurai starts to get purple in the face, his hair starts to stand up, but...

That's 'She Bangs The Drums'. It's track 2 off their first album and it's a top tune.

The whole reason I live by Dogma - besides the fact that it's Kevin Smith - is that it raises a lot of good points concerning religion and how warped it was to begin with. If you have a belief, that's great, and I commend you for it, but you shouldn't have to create a system of rules and law surrounding it. The meaning and original idea becomes lost over time.

Needless to say, I do have issues with religion - mainly for the same reasons as you. As well as the fact that I was just driven away from the bible thumpers in Florida who made it a staple of their lives. "God will provide for me." Yeah, that's great, but sweetie, you gotta provide for yourself as well and not rely on a higher being to do all the work for you.

Heh, don't get me started on Satan. *lol*
