Once you successfully navigate through that mid-life contemplation between 30-40, you'll find yourself just settling in with that scrubbed-bare face you mentioned. I'll be 65 in three weeks. But spiritually/emotionally/intellectually/psychologically/whatever, I've been calmly floating around between 25 and 35 for 30 years now. Yesterday, my knees felt 45, today they feel 70. I still feel like "me," but it's a version of "me" that needs a nap now & then.

I find you incredibly inspiring. I wish somehow I could touch you with my words here, but I know it is a vain hope. We are approximately the same age though, and live in close to the same area. I am going through much the same changes in my life. It feels nice to be laid bare when you have confidence you are in charge of it!

I was doing that same thing all last year while NOT officially a member anymore. It was upsetting. This clearly is the place for me, so I am back. I think you have tried to deny it too, like I did, but this is not something you have to give up. This is a connection to be proud of. This is something you were a part of. There is so little that we do in life that is part of a thing that is bigger than us, and there is no point in denying yourself that connection even when fate picks something you were not intending. I think of poor Alice Liddell, who was the one Charles Dodgeson (better known as Lewis Carroll) had tutored as a child. She was still known as the Alice from Alice and Wonderland up into her 80s. How must it have been for her to be famous for something she clearly had nothing at all to do with. However, sometimes embracing the oddities of fate allows you to become yourself more completely. I think it has with you, and so I find that inspiring. Be you, in spite of and because of what the world has made of you.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! Life has changed a lot for me in the last year. I don't spend a lot of time online. I do spend a lot of time at the gym, coaching, doing paperwork, and all the fun stuff that comes with running a business. Hey, it is so good to see you on here again! I have missed you. I think I even got several posts taken down on various groups asking about where you went. It seemed odd to me that one of the best and most interesting people on here had disappeared like a ghost. I am glad you are doing well and that things have been a win-win for you with moving on. I wouldn't think the SG site would necessarily hold anyone enthralled non-stop forever, but on the other hand, I find myself feeling very comfortable with the people I have met on here. There is a certain fearlessness of interacting with people who are opened with their sexuality that makes me keep coming back. Counter-intuitively (perhaps, or perhaps not) I feel like the people I have met here are on the whole more well-rounded and less perverted than those I meet in society in general. I think being opened to all sides of yourself is a genuine good that leads to real development of the soul. -Or maybe I just am very good at justifying why I love looking at beautiful women and talking to other people who feel the same way, but I know many art historians who would say that which is aesthetically pleasing leads to a happier and more productive life. Anyway, I am glad to see you back on here and I hope you know there were quite a few people who noticed your absence and will be gladdened by your return.
