There's a woman at work whos little girl has declared me her boyfriend. She was apparently quite upset the other day when I was late for work and demanded to know where I was. I guess that'll teach me! She's an impetuous little girl, but she's sweet, and very smart for a three year old. I don't know what she sees in me! biggrin

Let's hear it for greatly defered action. I'm in to frittering.
jennylou:
Yes, frittering is perhaps one of my favorite things... it pretty much sums up my life actually.
Haven't seen you around on here much lately. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods smile
nolongerhere:
Wow, it's been quite a while in between this blog and the one before.
And: Yay! I learned a new word. Frittering. smile

Do you suppose one must major in his or her native tongue to be a writer of any consequence? Is the forced and autocratic instruction in some haughty institution where creative writing is truly born? Sure it's a terribly tragedy to have an outstanding voice in your heart while your brain lacks the means to convey it in prose, but is it easier for one's...

sadly it did decline, mutate and adapt itself to the mainstream. You have to flip through many pages of Egg to find anything remotely outrageous. However when do we do tributes to a current trend? That would be just... trendy, hence pointless, no?

Thanks for your kind words, thankfully all the good memories of my trip far outweigh the bad, and I'm counting the days (and the pennies) until I can strap my backpack on and get back out there!
tovi:
thank you, you are beyond sweet kiss

It's my grandfather's birthday today. He passed away less than a year ago and everyones still taking it pretty hard. I know I miss him more than I've ever missed someone in my life. Definitely the closest person to me that's ever passed away. Happy birthday Popaw.

But aside from the sadness of today, yesterday I discovered that all four seasons of My Name Is...

How does one go about rewriting a manuscript when one can't even stand to read it it's so bad?

Why must all books on novel writing be total gloom, doom, and nay saying? I understand, really. I know all too well how much life sucks and that I will never be published. Why on earth must they club me about the head and eyes with it? I read them for advice and encouragement, not endless pages of depression; I can get that from my...

Ahh, who cares what the books say! Write to be writing!
I know the only thing I'll most likely ever have published were high school paper articles and the town hall meeting summaries for my small town news paper. But I still write stuff. And if someday I make it more than 50 pages into something and actually figure out how to wrap up an ending maybe I'll have someone look at it if I get a chance. Otherwise I think it is good to write for the sake of writing.
So take the constructive advice from those books and let the rest go in one ear and out the other
jennylou:
I know... I'm full of crap. I get defeated before I ever get far enough in to make anything of it. But you have to try to stay confident that one of these times you'll start writing and just won't be able to stop until it is finished.

I have a question. Do you think an ending should be already sort of established in your mind early on or it should come as you are getting toward the end? I have always wondered what is the better way to go about it. Sometimes I try to make it like a debate case and outline everything first.

It's not my birthday. It's not today.

So I always heard growing up that men keep getting better looking as they grow older. Now at 25 I can see that that was just a cruel hoax. Happy birthday to me indeed.

happy birthday!!! i realise there is a lot of birthday in march!
