At work I have a two monitor set up. As a graphic designer (or any artist-type), having a monitor to work on and a monitor to put your palate/tools on, makes life much, much easier in today's world of increasingly complicated graphics programs.

Down in the lower corner of my second monitor I amuse myself by listening to videos while I work. I blazed through...

same here - thank you for the links.

i try to read news from other countries to get a better idea of what's going on - while realizing that each country tends to spin their news in their favor.

I've been working at a small sporting goods company, doing what I do for money, which is graphic design. There are only nine of us, it's a manufacturer/wholesaler (I think I spelled both of those wrong). Their design has been done by either the product designer or contract in the past. It is bad and very dated.

The owner has been pretty good about trying...

You long time readers will note that this may be the most times I've updated since I started on the site. Two life updates before, with some awesome snowman pictures, a comic, and a rant or two, all in the last entries.

Today's subject: Cormac McCarthy's "The Road."

Go read it.

The reviews are spot on, it may be one of the best books in...

You'd have missed it anyway. It was only up for a day at most.

I went to somthing called Reality Check this weekend, which is a portfolio review for graphic design students by professionals. I had gone as a student and now it was time to go as a professional. It was a blast. I looked over 10-15 portfolios over about a 2 1/2 hour period and gave the students feedback; most of which was constructive.

There were only...

Time for an update. A fairly non-opinioned update. It's not that I don't have some. You can check through my board comments below and find stuff regarding Grindhouse's box office and the shootings at VT, for example. But, for this update, all I'm going to do is update. Those run-of-the-mill what's new kind of thing.

My roommate's birthday was Friday (the 20th). I baked...

Two entries back is the fearsome snowman. One entry back is the graphic novel art.

A couple of weeks ago the lead singer from the band Boston, Brad Delp, was found dead in his home. If you've gotten most of your 70s knowledge from retro TV shows and didn't actually live then, Boston was a kick-ass rock band around the same time as Styx,...

i was running around saying "the lead singer of boston died" and no one knew wtf i was talking about or didnt understand why i cared. that was my parents "party album" (the one they would play either gearing up for a party or at some point during a party) so i associate it with good times. i bought my own copy (from itunes) last year and was SHOCKED to find that i knew almost every song by heart. that shit sticks, yo!
committedsavage:
Word. I have bought Boston (the album) 4 separate times on 4 different formats.

Did you go both days to the Con?

Did you see the Seven Deadly Sins prints at the Dark Horse booth?

I actually used the font that I chose because I have seen Fatality use it places. But thank you for showing me that! I have been wanting it, and I will totally use it on other bumper stickers I make.

ahh, dunno what email you sent it to. i'm sending my new one to you in PM now, though.

I left the last entry up way too long, I know. I meant to take it down/switch it up before or right after my birthday, right after it snowed here.

It snowed here!

Lots of snow, for Seattle proper. While the rest of Seattle's fucked up driving retards slid around on three or four days of ice and snow, somehow thinking that four wheel drive...

You want to hear an entertaining commentary, listen to the track on Cannibal The Musical. Then get back to me. biggrin

Wow - those pictures are pretty damn awesome.

Thanks for the Pan support. That film group kills me because I'm such a movie geek and feel so strongly about my film-related opinions, but nobody in that damn group seems to agree with me! And of course that one guy decided to pick a couple fights with me in a row, and I take them way too seriously... So I've kind of stayed away from that group, which makes me sad.

I've never had ribs before, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed my big ol' plate of quesadillas! kiss

Arg, Christmas!

Just kidding, I had a pretty good time. I was tired because I had insomnia (and I never get insomnia) and cranky because my mom and sister have turned into dog people. Not normal dog people, those little yapping rats that pass themselves off as dogs, people. Whose little hearts beat just fast enough for them to pee when they wag their tail,...

Hey, happy birthday.

I actually didn't know that I was quoting Fight Club, even though I've read it. It was actually supposed to be a reference to Citizen Toxie. biggrin

I know, everyone hates long posts. I know, I suck at responding in people's journals. In fact, I'm a little amazed each time I show up and I still have 12(10) friends. So, the short and sweet of it:

1. Eye healing nicely (see last post, page past the boring text to the gory pics at bottom).

2. Remember when I had to put my...

Hey, I hope the silly season gets better for you. Seems like this time of year always goes to shit for me and my friends. I think it's in the rules or something.

I will mope for a long time when something goes down with my cat. She's more of a person to me than most humans I encounter. Samling's got a kitten needing a home, I think...not a replacement for yours, just a kindness to hers. It is a thought.

Take care. I hope you get a chance to come out for one of the random SG things or maybe roll by the Boxcar.
juliana:
Man. I'm really sorry to hear they're both now gone. I kinda hope my cats will live as long, still.
