Thanks for everybody that responded to my last entry. Now for something completely different.
Two entries ago I posted the Prelude to my first play, Searching for Julie Wisch.

I was and am still disappointed in the amount of hatred directed toward the gay marriage issue. In one of the threads, someone asked if anyone was against gay marriage and why he hadn't heard of anyone that was.
What followed was a hate filled thread, in which several members spewed the same type of venomous bile that they accuse homophobics of.

I think that two consenting adults should be able to marry legally whether the couple identifies as gay, straight or Britney et al. If the couple is interested in marrying within a religious institution than it is up to that institution to independently decide if they will conduct the ceremony. I personally feel that if a church group will not except gay marriage that they are in breach of basic human rights - but then it is not up to me. Incidently, it was progressive church groups here in Toronto who started marrying gay couples and demanding that the government respond to the needs of their parish(es).
I guess I don't understand the separate but equal thing - why all this rigmarole? Is this like "don't ask don't tell" about being gay in the military or "I'm against abortion, but I'm pro-choice."

i think it comes down to being able to say 'me and my (same sex partner) are married'. saying 'we have a civl union' is not the same as the words 'are married'.
i honestly think thats what it's all about because a fair amount of states have so called civil union benifits.
i am personally for gay marriage because two men or two women being married has zero effect on my life. zero.

I promised julianna a story today. The trouble is, after working out and the excitement of getting my new Mindy Smith CD, getting my brand new long sleeved black SG shirt, and arguing short sighted hippies in the Nader Thread, stories are far from my mind.
So, here is something (hopefully) better for you sweety. The Prelude to my first play, Searching For Julie...

This has probably been brought up before, which is why I'm using it as a journal entry. As opposed to a subject on the boards. It may mean fewer (or no) responses, but why clutter up the sex/Bush/date me discussions.

I miss you.
I can. But it takes work, it doesn't just happen. When I was younger (about your age I started intentially doing it... intentially looking at situations I'd gotten myself into and breaking them up to figure out why. I encourage the exercise. And you have to spend time alone. I don't mean on the couch, I mean live by yourself for a while. Don't date for a while. Let the sound of your brain filter through all the noise that normally surrounds you.
And learning doesn't have to be 'seeing the beauty'. Learning is not doing the same destructive thing over and over again.
As a storyteller, I'm paid to find a story every day

I agree with you Moore comment but most liberals do not see those facts because they do not want to. They know what Moore was tring to get across and believe that and nothing else.
I've thought about a lot of different entries recently, but, to be honest, I've been a little sick and a little working very hard, and a little bored overall. I'll get over it.

Well, the actual birthday is winding down, but the weekend has just begun.
Today was spent having lunch with my mom, then driving north to the slightly out of the way fresh butcher in south Lynnwood. There, I bought a couple brats for my lunch, two new kinds of bbq sauce to try out, and an 8 pound standing rib roast that they had to...

Welcome back
I have different groups, but everyone would get along on some level if I brought them together. But, I have a smaller number of friends and I don't hang around people that are overtly dramatic ,,, so even if they didn't like each other, I wouldn't ever know.
Actually I think you're right, about the self fostering thing... *I* was/am the one that keeps them apart, because I have two tiers of intimacy with friends.

and thanks so much for your advice on the jobs and careers thing. and all of what you say is true and makes me feel so much better.
and i might bug you in the future for more of your helpful career advice.. cause obviously you know what you are doing and seem to be very successful in an art field.
thanks again!

Keeping it in the movie vein, I just saw Cold Mountain. Talented Mr. Riply is still my favorite movie of this director, but there were some great moments.
I have to say, though, while I like Nicole Kidman, she was woefully miscast in this. She did a fine job, but I could never see past her to her character.

Lunch with ma, then I'm going to finish a script I've been putting off. Which sounds like work, but I'm very excited about it, so it will be fun. The weekend is dinner with friends (Seattle's Chinatown) and some LAN gaming (geek fest).
James Cameron has a lot of flaws as a director, the chief one being the most exciting action sequence is usually the first one (Marine ass kicking in Alien, semi chase in T2 (though in this case there were visually cooler ones later), crane falling in the Abyss, just to name three), but one of the things he does well is set up those action...

I had a lot of things to do, but I went to my parents instead. It was my mom's birthday, plus she has a lot of stuff from my uncle Ty. He had gathered tens and tens of little wooden boxes and tons of chinese boxes and games made of wood. Hand carved chess set. Drafting pens. Books. Plus his planes, of course. Books on design and chinese characters. Some pretty interesting stuff. My mom had supposedly thrown away his porn, but I think it was the picture stuff. There were lots of books with short stories in them, and a file of drawings he had did. I got the file of drawings because she didn't want them, but didn't have the heart to throw it away. I haven't looked through all of it, but there was some pretty wild stuff from first glance (and I've seen some pretty wild stuff in my day).
juliana:
Wild stuff, huh? Can you describe what you mean by that, mqxie-Q?
well, happy birthday to yer mum. she's sagittarius?
i've never taken part of any dispersement of a deceased loved one's possessions. rather, i should say, i've YET to.
it makes you wonder about the things you'll leave behind, doesn't it? ... will you be prepared, and be able to decide who gets what? or will it be something that came suddenly, so one of your close relatives will have to sort through a whole lot of shit and pick through whatever they want? will you have to stash YOUR porn?
my sister could have all my clothes and photos. my mother could have all my paintings.
but who would i give all my letters and stories to? perhaps they could split it. if they ever stopped fighting over petty things.
what would i give to my father? would my grandmother still be around to have any of my things?
i have a rubber duckie collection that i know i'd give to my best grrl friend, whom i'm not really speaking to now.
it will be interesting to see how my books would get distributed. my family would probably pick first, then give the rest to my friends...
BAAH such thoughts on such a lovely morning. everything's white-grey outside, and very cold. i think i'll go to lunch with a friend.

Even wonder what other people think of you? Or how you affect other people's lives? Of course you do. I think what's more interesting is trying to figure out how important someone else is, to other people.

celebrate.
in a moment of hallucination, i suddenly became anxious that you mentioned celibacy in your post to me.
*whew* ... wasn't THAT frightening! but i'm glad it's over.
hrm. "Job"? ... what is this "Job" you speak of?
chatty chat chat.
i still need to sleep. had early dr's appt this morning so i didn't get much in the way of recuperation sleep. but i'll aim for it tonight.
you know how it is, when that moment comes and you can finally just curl up in bed and say Fuck Off to the rest of the world for 8-10 hours... I get so excited at the prospect that I stay awake longer so I can savour the moment.
I WILL be celebrating with road trip. To LA. If my work will let me off. I don't know what I'll do if they don't, though. Today I typed up fliers for our region's stores, advertising my need for coverage for 2 weekend shifts. I hope it works... Otherwise I'm S.O.L.
::kinda anxious::
For the rest of my afternoon, I will go thrift store shopping for cheap gift ideas!
Have you finished your hollie shopping yet?

I had a dream about Persephone last night. Not the SG, the actual goddess (I assume, I should say). I'm not one for believing in dream interpretation or assigning deeper meaning to them, but I'm also very open to finding out I'm wrong.

Pssst...One of the best lovers I've ever had was an Aquarius. I'm quite fond of them. But you're right, I'd quickly grow tired of being the responsible one in the relationship.
I'm jealous of your dreams, I rarely remember more than snippets of mine.
Oh and, you should maybe go back and edit that "say something nice" entry to add a compliment about the person above you, huh?
