"Fine" seems to be shorthand for either "I don't want to talk about it" or "I want you to know that I actually do want to talk about it, but won't come right out with it."
Figuring out which is which usually is the part where I get in trouble.
It's cool to know what you like and don't like, even to know a tattoo that wasn't thought out or was poorly done (which yours was neither of). But to get the whole macho fuckin douchebag "This is the only way it can be done" mentality is bullshit.
I am a member of a forum on Guy Aitchison's website coz I bought one of his tattoo books. If you've seen much of his work you know how much he likes to push boundaries with the artform and encourage it from the other people on the forum. One guy showed a link to a website where he spoke of doing tattoo's with no outline and real fineline stuff and he got slammed by everybody. That old idea that everything has to have that bold old school look for it to have any staying-power. Some poeple have to recognize it as 'art' and not 'reproduction'.
i know, i can't quite belive his attitude, all i was trying to do is point out the way he phrazed his quote was bad, not that he shoudln't think its bad
madness
though me myself i like it very much as i really like sams work
