Thanks for the support and advice on my last blog. I've decided to enroll my child in a childrens theater group. Hopefully she makes some friends that are just as "weird" as she is!
I feel like crying. My daughter was supposed to have a sleepover, but her friends went home. She's sobbing in the corner because she feels like she has no friends and nobody likes her. I don't know what to do. Today, I failed as a parent. What 8 year old has no friends?
You haven't failed as a parent.
These things happen to children. What's more important is how you speak to her about it and that you're there for her.
Think about it: if you tried holding a party, but people went home way too early, how would you feel? You may feel hurt and bummed, but you'd survive.
So it's important that you talk to your daughter and explain things. She won't understand right now, but that's ok. Speak to her anyway. Years from now, she'll be stronger and she'll have you to thank for it.
Rest your weary heart, kiddo. Things will get better.
(Both of you.)
Im so very sorry, I felt that way when I was her age, I felt that way a lot of my life, why did her friends go home? What did they say? You need to get her involved in groups with people who are like her, people who are into ice skating, artists, theater people, people who are interesting, she deserves to have friends who are interesting and dont care about what others think! if i had done that i might of had more friends early in life!
