Grrrr..
I just did the worst radio show of my entire life! At it wasn't my fault! (believe it or not)
I go to tune into our station just before I leave my house to go do my show and there's another fucking station broadcasting on our channel!! So I call the program director and head up there. It turns out someone turned off the power in the building at the university with our transmitter in it! So half of the show I'm broadcasting to .. well nobody.. which isn't incentive for top quality. About 1/2 way through the show we're back on air, but I'm so out of it and frazzled that the rest of the time sucked ass. I hate that.
Otherwise I worked at the bookstore today, where I work every monday. Slow day, but decent sales. Listened to a lot of the Cramps and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs - two disks I bought today as some of the loan $$ was deposited in my account and I got a little money from work. Enjoying those.. especially the Cramps disk .. Bad Music for Bad People. I love Lux Interior. Great stuff.
Finished reading my books Observatory Mansions and Avant-Gardening (both excellent).. so it felt good to actually complete some books. Got closer to the end of Temple of the Golden Pavilion by Mishima. Also read some of the French Laundry Cookbook and a cookbook by the great Jacques Pepin.
As a nice surprise I was going to make this peach type dessert with red wine and creme de cassis.. so I bought the peaches & wine knowing one of my roommates had some creme in her room. So when I'm like.. hey I got the stuff to make this fab. dessert for everyone.. she's like.. oh well I don't think I could spare the 1/4 cup of cassis necessary for it. Which sucked 'cause I thought it up to be this whole neato nice treat for everyone. So no great peach dessert. It's odd, because she's usually very generous in the regard, so I was pretty surprised.
Oh well.. my new use for the wine is to use it to get liquored up before I hit 80's night on Weds. So it will go to good use anyways.
I played a Roy Orbison song for one of the SG members who's obssessed with Roy. (and I mean obsessed!) But I don't think she heard it.
Well next week the transmitter should be working and the show should run super smooth. We broadcast over the internet too.. right here: http://cfuv.uvic.ca/ . My show is 10:30-midnight Pacific time on Mondays.
I've noticed that some people have these fun participatory things to their journals.. but I haven't been able to think of one yet. But I have now..
I'm asking for requests (keep in my these can't be tracks played on commercial radio) for my radio show! Just post your request to my journal and I'll play it on my show next week! (provided it's in the station's library or my own.. but I'll try for other stuff too)
So you can listen and hear all the SG requested songs next Mon!! I thought that would be fun. So post your requests!
