i am sad.

tonight, i don't believe in love. it seems that so many people try so hard to find ways to be together and over and over again it ends in sorrow. how many of you have been in love with someone and spent months and years trying to learn to be happy together, only to ultimately fail? why are we unable to stay...

today i went bounding down the hill from the presidio, singing along to modest mouse, which was in my ipod headphones. it was a beautiful day and it felt really good to bound around and enjoy things.

The days down here have been like that a lot lately. Shal and I even had to escape from our loft and get down to the beach and go for a run. It was great.

Bounding is great. It's almost as great as frolicking.

Oh, and have you seen these? I saw them and instantly thought of you.

Yeah, but hey, if you ever need a 16MB usb drive (at which point, it becomes useful ), then you might as well get one that's terribly cute as well as useful. wink

i'm not sure about it when people ask questions in their journals. it seems to be a very SG phenomenon, like, "so, what do you think?" and "today's question: what is your favorite food?" i am suspicious of this tactic. do the people really care about the answers, or do they just feel guilty for talking about themselves for a while, and want to trick...

Well, i rarely ask questions, but when i do, its about peoples beliefs, which genuinely does interest me. But other than that i don't know i suppose some people do feel guilty for talking about themselves, and some are just interested.
I think its okay to run too, which is what i may do soon. I'll e mail you soon. I love the way you write by the way, I kept checking the link you sent me.

I am very suspicious about them, too. These questions give me the impression that the person is just bored. When I see them popping out of nowhere (no relevant relation with the actual diary issues), I usually do not answer them, even if they come from closer friends.

i feel so out of place here. when i think about the younger SGs and the partying and touring and rowdiness. i'm a sort of calm person, reserving rowdyness for close friends in moments meant to be quiet. it's not that i'm serious, i'm just focused.

I teach high school, delight in baking cookies and taking care of my friends, drink once in a blue moon, haven't done any drugs in about 7 years... and I have about 3 years on you (and so does Nixon and a few of her friends... and I've seen a few over thirty... i think).

As it's been mentioned, rowdiness just stands out more... but it's been my experience a lot of people here are nice, mellow, regular people next-door smile

I think you should be proud of your focus and wisdom
(not that anyone really cares what I think, but I'm in a rare 'unsolicited opinions' mode tonight)

pommyjeff:
you're not alone. I have a large extended network of buddies from NH (Sgs and Non) and MA who seem to be chilled people, without the rowdieness or need to party every night.

Perhaps the straight edge kids are self-explanatory because they dont drink and so don't frequent bars/clubs.

I enjoy hanging with them and not feeling the need of having to drink to have a good time. i'm not saying I'm gonna convert to straight-edge or any shit like that, but I enjoy having fun times sobre. and it's so much nicer to spend an evening curled up with my girl in my arms than to be out jumping around with rancid beer swilling around in my stomach.
