Holiday Blog Part 2

Holiday Blog Part 1

Kos Island is the third largest island of the Dodecanese.
It is situated between the islands of Kalymnos and Nisyros.
We stayed in Agios Stefanos on the south east end of the island, just below the old town of Kefalos.

Our apartment block was set back off the main road which was a little too close for our liking but to be honest we were not there much other than to sleep and by then traffic was minimal.

Our apartment block.

Room was typical of Greek apartments. One large sleeping area with balcony, small kitchen and a seperate bathroom with hand held shower. Simple but all you need really.

The apartments had a pool and a bar, which co-incidently was showing all Premier Laegue Football games live...Mrs Kpan was delighted wink She was particularly pleased with City's away win at Spurs.

Kos is about 60 miles in circumference and so we decided we would hire transport for a couple of days to see the bits we might not otherwise get to see....after we had a couple of pool and bar days in order to land of course.

Our Transport

I did the driving as Mrs Kpan had a bad back...not evident in the above 'posed' shot.
We managed to get to remote areas of the Island on our quad and it was well worth the 20 a day hire. Old Kefalos was our first port of call where we breakfasted on bacon, eggs, mushrooms and coffee.mmmmmmmm. We scooted about at the eastern end of the island looking for old churches and caves and finished up at Limnionas where we ate the most fabulous fresh caught sea food as the sun set across from the retaurant.

Limnionas Sunset

I also shot one of my favourtie pictures of Mrs Kpan which i posted in the previous blog...here is another version of it.

Quad day 2 was a trip into the mountains to visit Pyli and Zia, two wonderfully picturesque villages.

Churches are a feature of the landscape.

Everywhere you go in Greece there is an abundance of colour.

Close to our apartment block was a beautiful little beach complete with it's own minature island (and church) and a Hellenic Temple ruin. We kayaked and swam to the island on seperate occasions and spent a good deal of our time sunbathing by the temple ruins.

On the temple site were a cluster of trees which were just so photogenic I shot gazillions of pictures. Here's just a couple.

The temple site was a beautiful place to watch the sunrise, wether you were in a boat

or sat by the temple itself

or taking photos

or meditating

or just chillin

We were never alone at sunrise.

Ok Holiday Blog part two complete...I'll drop in and do a bit more in a day or two.

Not going all that way just to watch Citeh tongue

That sunset shot of Mrs Kpan is seriously ace. An inspiring set of photies all round. Looks like it was a wonderful trip. I've been to Greece, but not for a bazillion years, and I don't remember it much.

That picture of Mrs Kpan is so beautiful. Love your sweet ride and all of the other shots. Makes me want to go there so badly. Did you get a chance to do any drumming by the beach?
