Philly was lots of fun. It started out kinda slow, but towards the end of the trip it got a lot better.
i can only think of 2 bad things about the trip:

1) my ex-girlfriend still tries to correct everything i say or do, even if she wasn't paying attention. god, i wish she'd grow up and stop acting like she's my friend because...

The ass grass or gas thing is from a motorcycle sticker I got at a tattoo convention eons ago....... I just about fell to the floor laughing when I read it. It's sooooo super redneck lol

Umm, I actually grew up in Southington, but left town at 18 to travel....came back a couple of years ago and found that most of the people I knew then are now gone, so I've had to make a new batch of friends, which I always enjoy because I am sort of the kind of person that will talk to anyone, unless you're a total asshole. I love meeting new people....can't wait to go to the SGCT sushi thing if I'm not working... yeehaw! wink

i'm in philly now. i should be spending tomorrow, my birthday, on a bus headed back for CT. anybody know about these chinatown bus things? they're pretty cheap and they go from chinatown in one city to chinatown in the next.

okay, i've learned some follow up lessons to my vermont trip -things i already kinda knew. but it was important to get these reminders....

I went to Vermont last week and I loved it. We picked up a crusty punk hitchhiker on the way. Some girl named Sara from Seattle and Portland. She seemed pretty cool.

As you may or may not know, I used to be pretty active in the anarchist scene. I went to protests all dressed in black and did black bloc stuff, I used to...

omigod, THANKS for all those misheard lyrics! people never give those to me anymore and yours were great! i was considering not including them in my next issue because a couple of reviewers seemed to think they were "cliched" but fuck it. i get a kick out of them. by the way, i love the pic you posted. wink

SELL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wink
Who do you think you are? Being all rational and shit???

What's up man. I love that fucking entry, it's my favorite political entry you've made yet. I missed reading your posts, I've been out of the SG loop for a long fucking time now.

Anyway what you said is great. It hits so right on the head with me right now. I've been talking with my dad a lot lately (long story short, I am from a history of activists, great grandfather was in the underground army against Mussolini, Grandfather was a black listed communist, and my Dad and Mom were anti-nuke/MX activists and anti war now). But he touches on a lot of the shit you said, about the reality of "life", or "frienship", and how the left get's it confused through theory and dogma. It's lost touch with what the real concept of solidarity is. It's not a button, it's not a lecture, a patch, a fundraiser, it's living. It's living alongside your peers, and gathering information about YOUR struggle, then fighting alongside not FOR the rest of the world.

Your doing that. Your struggle is not living in a squat, it's working alongside your peers, and taking that passion you have and working together.

I'd love to write more about it later if you want. Fuck man maybe when I get time I'll write you a little essay on my thoughts. It's been a long hard fight for me to figure this shit out.

peace and love

oh yea, and by the way that sand dollar shit is cool isn't it???

Yeah perhaps they are a bit old. They look very 90s anyway..
They have one in Sweden thats called "Wanted" (Efterlyst in swedish).. They have this fat proffesor in criminology who sits and answers peoples questions on recent crimes. among other things. They hardly ever turn out the way he predicted they did.. he sucks at profiling.

haha. Jessica Simpson in a movie? jeez.
We really don't have too many popprincesses in Sweden going into acting. Seems like celebrities in the states try everything at least once - even if they suck at it.

no story, just a small vent:

IT'S BORING BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITHOUT A CAR!

that's it. almost dying has really changed my outlook on life. i really enjoy everything so much more now. i can't understand it, but it just changed like that. this is awesome, i wanna get out while this feeling lasts. i've been held up at gunpoint once...

I'm glad you're not dead! That's scary.
Yeah, not having a car really sucks. Ours just died, and now we have to get a new one. Meaning I don't get to go to the Prom in Toronto. But, um... that's a lot better than almost dying, so I guess it's not that bad.

There was a failed coup by a small but militant fascist party in the 1920's. It was made up from ex-republican rebels after we got our independance who still had alot of adrenalin in their blood and wanted to continue fighting for whatever reason they could think of.
We''re the lucky European country that wasnt directly effected by fascism in the 1940's. From around 1920 to the early 1980's, Ireland was indirectly ruled by the catholic church. They were hard times. There's always been racist nationalists but things really only kicked off when the church lost it's popularity and different youth cultures began to appear.
Fast forward to now. At the moment there is no fascist party. The closest to one is the Imigration Control Platform. Although it's leader is a known nazi, and cannot speak in public anymore after his last appearence which got him a boot to the face, they have very little support and are seen by the public to be a bunch of crazed nuts. Underground groups are incredibly small. The most these groups do is put up stickers around cities and paint swastikas on jewish buildings.
The general view among anti-racists is to nip the problem before it even grows so there is a very strong anti-racist movement in Ireland. AFA, Antifa, RAR, ARN are the main groups with RAR (Residents Against Racism) getting alot of public support and winning humanitarian awards for their work in deportation issues. Most racism here is by ignorance more then anything else. People thinking Nigerians are coming in taking our jobs, ect. so it is very unlikely we'll ever see a fascist party anytime soon.

...Yo!

"welcome to the wonderful world of steel." that's what patty said to me years ago when i was a painter. the job was repainting a water tower. it was nasty, they were sandblasting all day, then spraying on the paint immidiately after they sandblasted. raw steel rusts pretty quickly from the moisture in the air.

i was the asshole at the bottom of the tank,...

Connecticut has always been a major manufacturer of the most deadliest, top of the line, arms and weaponry for the time. Even since this country began, this state is even historically referred to as "the powder keg of the American Revolution."

In the Civil War, we built the new stock-loading rifles, that replaced the older muzzle loading muskets that the South used until the end...

I hate guns sooo much. I am just a pacifist, what can I say? The colt building isn't abandoned, it's subsidized artists' lofts now! My mom's boyfriend lived there until he moved in with my mom last week. I dunno about the SGCT thread, I haven't been checking it. I really wasn't trying to stir up controversy...I just tend to express honestly whatever's on my mind, and right now I'm really affected by the stupid stupid Iraq war, more so every time I meet a cool person whose life the President wants to sacrifice for a lie!

Luke is the kid who was working the door at the show I got into a fight at last January. He was the guy who wasn't going to throw out the drunks because he talks more than he does stuff. So i felt bad for him, and i became the drunk tosser for a few minutes.

For some reason Luke had his shirt ripped at...
