I just had a rather long dialogue with only myself on Facebook about the transformations of the OSS into the CIA and the NKVD into the KGB, correcting myself when I realized I had written a date or something incorrectly. Does this mean I'm smart or just really lonely?
desdmonia:
Smart

Someone rather innocuously asked me what I wanted in a woman tonight; I didn't say what I really wanted because they weren't really interested in my answer. If I had, though, I would have said that I want a woman who understands that I've chosen to devote large swaths of my life to staring down some of the worst that humankind has to offer because...

This is beautiful

Made the move to Austin. I start my job on December 3; I'm equally nervous and excited.
Also, I'm vowing to overhaul my wardrobe; it's time to carry myself with some more style.

I don't just cross the line, I paint over it.
subrosa:
I prefer to walk it.
Also, you owe me a poem, sir.

To all the conservatives who were convinced that the billions and billions of dollars spent on Romney's and other conservatives' campaigns (thanks to Citizens United) would essentially buy the election, I have one word: SCOREBOARD.

Virtually nothing changed. Same President. Same party in control of House. Same party in control of Senate. Same bullshit politics.
jekyllandhyde:
It's not so much what changed as what didn't change. If Republicans took control of the government (and Romney was in the Oval Office when a Supreme Court seat opened up), very bad things would have happened. Simply by preventing that from happening, this election was a win.
Also, the ballot initiatives were largely important.

If you're really interested, follow me on Twitter (@TheAustin83) to see some exultant remarks of victory after the election tomorrow or to witness me preparing for my new life as an alcoholic who randomly tells strangers, "It's all YOUR fault" for no reason whatsoever.
Come this Thanksgiving, I'll be moving to Austin, Texas after receiving an offer to work at the Austin Children's Shelter, a home for boys and girls who have been taken away from their parents by the state. This is certainly going to be a challenge -- much more so than my previous job at the shelter, amongst adults -- because many of these kids are...

Wow, Congrats! Super proud of you. I am sure you will do amazing things and I look forward to reading about them!

That's pretty awesome. I wish you luck with your move!
Being pissed off is great motivation for working out. I lift more, run harder, and don't stop as easily. Maybe I should make a workout video where I just start listing things that make everyone upset and thus propel them on toward a better workout. I bet it would sell. Just picture it: "Speed cameras! The Yankees always win! Honey Boo Boo's mother has a...

That it is.
Jumping in earnest into the book about my two years working at the shelter. This is going to bring back memories both painful and sweet. But I've got to get this done, before I start to forget some of the details. This could be an emotionally draining project for me, so you've all been warned

I once wished upon a star; it turned out to be a ninja star.
desdmonia:
so, what happened?
jekyllandhyde:
Alas, it did not fly into the eyes of my enemies, but it did give me a very smootg shave.
Slipping into one of my patented funks again. I haven't really had one since moving here, but the general lack of a social life (and odd inability to focus on writing as much as I need to be) has been adding up. A friend of mine from Baltimore mentioned to me tonight that I've been isolating myself, unintentionally, and I think she's right. I've been...

So, I ended up going to the bar :X... but I did just read a paragraph of "To Better Days" and I want to, need to know, .... you need an editor?
You want a bitchy harsh editor? I love your work at this point, which is weird to say having only read a little bit, but I do think you need someone to go in and kill your darlings, and I'd love to kill them. Haha. I feed off that shit. Had to offer. Anyhow, I'm going to try to avoid that mentality I have and just read.
