The decision is made. The places are booked. The destination is COSTA RICA.
We have decided to trek the rainforest of Costa Rica for Kirstie's 2nd and my 1st charity trek. We will be walking through the rough terrain over 72 kilometres for 8 long, hard days. Sleeping under jungle canopies and swimming in waterfalls. Dealing with spiders, snakes, crocodiles and poisonous FROGS.
I am hoping that the experience will have a number of positive outcomes:
Firstly, and most importantly to me, I hope that it will bring the two of us closer together. After all of the drama of the last couple of months , maybe a shared adventure of this magnitude will be good for us. Ever since I met Kirstie, I have wanted to show her the beauty and magic of the world and now we get to see something a handfull of people with our lives get to see.
Second reason is a very simple one. I'm a bit out of shape. This trek will give me a cast in stone reason to get back to some level of fitness. Hopefully, in those dark days when running is hell, it will also scare me enough to keep me going.
The next reason is that I feel that if I'd gone to the Sahara with Kirstie last year, maybe, none of our drama would have happened. A silly thing to think but that's not the only stupid thought I've had recently, believe me.
Finally, I like to think of myself as an amateur photographer. I can only imagine the places we will see and the images I'll be able to capture, of course I'll post them here for you all to see when I'm done.
Those are my personal reasons for wanting to do this and i know that Kirstie has hers too. We do, however, have a shared reason too. His name is Jordan and he's our nephew. He has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and has gotten progressively worse over the last few years. He's 12 now and in a wheelchair, sufferers of this disease don't tend to live much past their teens but he never complains or asks why him. He is our inspiration and strength. There is no cure for his condition yet but that is why we continue to raise money.
Now that the decision has been made, I'm so nervous. I have a long way to go before i am ready for this, so much training to do so that I don't let everyone down. Also, the small issue of quitting smoking again. I started smoking again the day I found out what Kirstie had done and I've hated myself for it every day since. Last time, it took Kirstie getting pregnant to make me stop. I just hope that this will be enough motivation this time.
PLEASE. Help me to do this. I know that money is tight for many of you right now but I need sponsors. Any amount, large or small, will be greatly appreciated. Go to our sponsorship site and pledge as much as you can afford. You don't even have to deal with the bugs, snakes or crocodiles, I'll do all that for you.
Also, let me know if you do sponsor us, I'd like to thank you personally.
Thank You.

As for the Cavs, they sent 6 guys packing in exchange for 4 that are leaps and bounds better. LeBron will finally have some help. It's an exciting time to be a Cavs fan!!
