Upon further inspection, a 150cc Moped/scooter can hit 50mph, doesn't need to be insured or inspected, gets 100-120 miles per gallon of gas, and runs about $900-$1200.
I can have that much saved by Spring.
The newer models come with a small trunk AND an alarm. I'd feel kinda funny parking a Moped and beeping it. Haha.
It seems like the logical mode of transportation though, given the current state of things, so I think it's a plan.
The only problem is they are not Highway legal, BUT, the only two towns I really go to aka Winsted and Simsbury, can be reached by back roads, so that is not an issue.
Plus, it'd mostly be for getting to work and school.

I had my helix stolen last year, and am still sad about it.
i'm not sure if a honda elite 150 will get that kind of milege... but my 250 got around 55-60mpg and would top out around 68-ish or so.
