I'm waiting outside for her and my boss-
who's a young,
successful,
single guy,
passes by
and says,

"That's why I'm not in a relationship,"
and I think

'You shirk love
because
you don't want
to wait?'

I smile
and continue to wait.

My pause
causes
him to respond
nervously.

He tells me,
he was only
joking.

I smile
and continue to wait.

You see,...

33 percent paycut(2)

Thirty-three percent pay cut
same job
the same hours

as she listens to
every
single table

going around about
money
jobs
and savings

it's a constant reminder

her husband hasn't
had a steady job
in three years

about to lose the house
a beautiful daughter
finished with college

she removes another plate
and thinks

no one tells you

it can go...

joker_:
Yep, it can and will go sideways. It can also go in directions that no one would have ever expected.
qdd:
this hit home very hard
my story is so similar
In the last 2 years I have experienced:

divorce
55% cut in pay
more hours, less job satisfaction
daughter started college
investment properties went back to the bank
credit ruined
bankruptcy filing this month
ex-husband unemployed for 2 years
no child support either
mortgage $3,000 a mo didn't get smaller when my income did frown
always waiting for the other shoe to drop
hard to keep my head above water some days.

but......
i have my health
3 children that are beautiful rays of light in my life
a daughter that in the end got her own loans and loves college
a job when many don't
a home that so far I manage to keep smile
a father that is 84 and an inspiration
family to lean on when I have to
so many things to be thankful for when i stop and think about it

thanks for making me stop today and take stock in what i have instead of focusing on what i've lost

Sunday morning coffee
we talk about quiet
and being a City girl
for her
it can be louder than jackhammers
sirens
or screams

across the table
I look up and can't help but think
of her naked
the way her breasts curve
into her hips
and that patch of hair

and she catches the look
and asks
what

smiling
I tell her what I'm thinking...

I want to be the girl someone writes about. A muse.
This is beautiful and perfect and I enjoy your writing very much.

after an all white desert I slept through into Nevada
prisons and slots and Mesas almost always far away
unless you were cresting them at Eighty-five

the landscape suddenly becomes California
Tahoe and the Sierra Nevadas
flat past Sacramento

eighty miles from San Francisco
stop in Davis
shag a bus ride

spilling tears in Northern California
the sky raising beauty of Shasta-Whiskeytown
humbling and uplifting...

her pursuit of perfection
hes left her

rather lonely
like Icarus
flying towards the Sun

losing feathers
as the wax
melts

growing up
passionate and intelligent

unlike those
who raised you

continuously told to tame
the mad momentum of your mind

to be more
like them

to 'cut your hair
wear these clothes'

to look act feel
nothing like you felt

told that this is what it will be
to be an adult

all the world
a grey compromise

something almost never said
in words

but...

Queer! wink

Awesome dude!

HAHAHA
the best thing about that is that it's so ridiculous you couldn't have made that up.
When he's kicked the bucket you should put that in quotation marks on his tomb stone!
