Can't say I remember saying I "WOULD without a DOUBT" do this ALL on foot. I remember saying I wanted to very very much and would try very hard. Well I did, Idid try and I did want to. I'm not sure how many of you flaming away have actually walked 70 miles on foot through a mountain pass, I mean if you have then...

Haha, Delio, my homeboy. Fuck SG elitists.

We went 330 miles today all for free in less than seven hours. Not the best time for that distance but not too bad either. Our first ride was an older gentle man in a Subaru by the name of John. He was off to go use his metal detector to try and find some rare things...

you know, i really wanted you to prove everyone wrong on this, but fuck were they right. less than 2 weeks and you're hitching. you can't go back now, you folded, even if you walk every step from now, you haven't walked across america.

Life is too short to not do something because of fear.

but apparently it's not to short to back out of doing something because it's hard.

Wow, who wants to light their flame-thrower first? This trip isn't turning out like the walk down the yellow brick road I had naively imagined. Ok well I wouldn't say that exactly. The walking, soreness, etc, heck I expected all of that. What didn't I expect? The emotional stress, I can't explain it. It's a weight that can't be measured. So heck, I guess maybe...

Hitchhiking would work fine, assuming (yes, I'm at it again) you take a route south of Montana. I think that would be more fun anyway. If you guys had some mopeds that would be really fun. Heck, I want to do that.

Here's some dudes that rode from San Francisco to the southernmost tip of South America, 5 months and 13,000 miles. Mopeds only go about 30 mph, so it's still a slow, scenic ride without exhausting yourself as much.

dude, already hitching? man, i am so underwhelmed.

maybe when almost everyone on the site tried to tell you the gravity of this 'undertaking' you should have paid a bit more attention...

Wow, words fail me but I'll see what I can do.
We started in Netarts, OR just as planned. A good friend took us there from Newberg where we had stayed Friday and Saturday night. It was a very odd, almost surreal, farewell. It's hard to explain in words how I felt as we prepared for 7-8 months of the unknown....

Spend the day at Disneyland with Dean, Jeff and my dad, I went on 22 rides, my dad and Jeff hit 21 and Dean skipped a couple so he ended up only going on 20.

It was pretty fun, a little cool (not cold per-se) at points but all in all you've have been hard pressed to ask for a better day. Sunny, clear, mosty...

Less than one week and we'll have started what I hope will become one of the greatest journey's in my life.

Last night (the night of the 26th, Monday) we had a little 'party' here in this apt we live. I'd say it was mine but it's not in any shape or form. I paid two months rent so I'm not just... here, but the...

One week, wow, one week and I'll be working my last day at Blockbuster and maybe Subway too. Can't say I'm sad, not one bit.

The only thing I'll miss is the people, not the jobs and lack of work I do at them.

Then on Tuesday it's goodbye AZ for what I hope will be the last time, ever. A ton is about to...

I'd like to meet as many people as we can from the sitedurig our trip. I think the best way to do that is to set up some sort of meeting spot in each city. Maybe once we get to each decent sized town, find a library, get online and say "hey, we'll be at ___ for the next 8 hours, want to talk to...

When you're in La Crosse make sure you stop by Yesterdaze. Even if you don't drink much it's worth seeing for the art. Casino and Bodega are great places to stop by if you want to try some rare import beers (the ones at Casino range from about $3 to over $250 a bottle, if they still carry the rare stuff) and the Rivoli is a decent place to go to get a pizza and a pitcher, sit at a table catch a second-run film on a decent-size screen.

The rest depends on what you're into... hiking through Hixon Forest, the bluffs and the river marsh areas is one thing that comes to mind.
infra:
Heh. Yeah, I completely understand you on that one. wink

I'd like to parkour through the trails sometime this summer, though. It's mostly an urban thing but the obstacles, inclines and overall landscape would make it challenging, I think. I'll see what else is coming up in the area when June comes around.

Well there's not a whole lot to say right now. I'm going to refrain from commenting on my topic out there on my trip for the time, I fear I'd stir up what has already become a mess, hahaha. I find it funny that people think I'd lie about me trip. I'm going to post pictures, of me and my brother and our stuff in...

I now know something getting an abortion and I don't know how I feel about it.

Part of thinks 'you're stupid for putting yourself in a place where that could happen.' But truth be told I know very few of the details surrounding the sittuation so who am I to say? Better than raising a child before you're mentally ready I guess, right?

So it...
