The bus system in this city is piss poor to be sure. When I first moved here my Aunt suggested I take the bus into work so I looked up the schedule and found that I'd have an hour and 45 minute bus ride that took 10 minutes by car. WTF is THAT shit? So I made a deal with her to buy gas if she'd drive me. Then I bought a car as soon as I had money.

They're always having pizza lunches in the Engineering building, you should have asked for a slice and gotten directions while you were there.

I've played Cranium more recently than TP. In fact I'm not sure I've played TP in a while. The last time I remember we got bored of moving around so we just sat around asking questions and drinking if we got it wrong. I think drinking if we got it right would have been better, but that's the way it went.

I think they allocate at least one seat in every class to a backwoodsman. You're lucky it was Tesla coming out of his speakers and not Jerry Prevo, channel 13 late Saturday night Evangelical Baptist minister and millionaire. An Anchorage Institution.

Nothing wrong with a book and a cup of tea on a day off - I try to do that even when I work..

I think that most of America's problem is that everything has gotten so big that we forget about how individual we all are in spite of it all. If we'd just remember that each person has their own self that is different and important, things may not seem so pointless.

So - drink your tea and read your book on your day off and enjoy Alaska's scenery!

My guilty pleasure is holing up in my apartment and just reading reading reading. I don't answer the phone, I just read. I feel bad sometimes for shutting everyone out, but it's such a pleasure to read, a good book anyway. If it's a shitty book I usually get bored and find something better.

Why do people have to be such assholes? Is it so easy to forget that you're dealing with a human being? I give attitude when I receive it, but not before and I don't understand why some people are so shitty to store employees.

I used to worry about the whole coporate monster thing and I'm still working for one. They exist at pretty much any occupation you can think of. In some way you're always going to have to deal with one. That's not a cheery thought, but it's life I suppose.

I'm not good at the Trivia Sports section either, my answer is usually Ty Cobb or Muhammad Ali. I'm chock full of useless knowledge past and present. At Humpy's (I hate saying it too) is the trivia the national kind on the TV? I used to play when I was in college a lot. I'd win free drinks all the time which was weird that I was able to remember anything let alone random stuff.

I guess the next step in the challenge process is to set a time and place for the TP master competition.

Hey! I'm sorry I didn't respond to your comment until now...I've been in Australia for the past month and didn't take the time to check this site while I was there. Plus I think it would be kind of awkward to peruse this site in a public internet cafe. Anyway.

A couple dozen things:
1. don't let Alaska hold you back, be the person you are and fuck what anyone else thinks.
2. We are kind of a lame community up here because we're all drunks and/or shut-ins. Sorry.
3. I was a lazy college student at one time, but my students take the cake. I doubt you're one of mine as I only have one female student. Yep, I teach enginerds.
4. I totally kick ass in Trivial Pursuit (at least I did in the original version, I may have problems in the newer ones...). So take that as a challenge. Though if I had to play teams I'd probably end up pissed because at first no one believes me and then they expect me to know EVERYTHING and so I generally end up drunk and yelling "See I told you!' and look like an ass. Which I probably am. Shit, now you know.

oh my gosh... I got a scandalous story to tell you. Ray actually said last night, "How long will it be til Holly hears about this?"

i wouldn't worry about fitting in. the real reason most alaskans are here is because they don't fit in anywhere else.
i also wouldn't worry about falling in love. falling's easy. it's getting back up, and washing the footprints off the back that's difficult. trust me.
