Paul Weller last night, work today.

Weller was excellent as always, even if the crowd took a while to get into it. Nearly got into a fight with a Brit who didn't understand why everyone wasn't going apeshit. I gradually came to understand where he was coming from, but pushing people and forcing your way ahead of them isn't usually the best way to get...

You guys got a winner on your hands, Eric. I loved GDLAND.
biggrin
jamie_trecker:
I second OJ; GDLAND is superb. Even better would be if Image saw fit to reprint Tom's earlier Myth of Opus 8 work to get it out to a broader audience...

The only question I have is: Why is a grown man living with his sisters? I'll have to write Joe and ask.

Sometimes life just sucks.

On the upside, though, I managed to catch most of Maximo Park's in-store at Amoeba last night. That Paul Smith sure makes singing great seem effortless.
teela:
ooh total score - Maximo Park is definitely a 'most frequently played' number at the moment in my house!

am also having a life-sucky moment, hopefully just a blip. hope you sort your suckage, i recommend reading something cute and meaningless - childrens books tend to work well, i like diana wynne jones in times of rubbish. or The Red Tree by Shaun Tan!

If you have an iTunes account, you can donate to the Hurricane Relief Fund by going to www.apple.com and clicking on the Red Cross link. The link opens the iTunes stores and you can make your contribution directly from the account you have set up to buy music from iTunes, in denominations as low as $5.

If you're on last.fm, feel free to add me to your list of friends. Pretty cool site that I wasted far too much time poking around on this morning. I love seeing what other people are listening to.

In other news, Jamie did a quick interview-type thing for this site, so look at that. It's the fifth article or so down.

Still at work on a Friday evening after spending roughly four hours at the always-inviting Jupiter. That'll teach me.

The upside, though, is that while I'm finishing up the day's work, I get to listen to AS IS NOW, the latest album by Paul Weller. Last year's STUDIO 150 was a bit of a disappointment for me. (Not a huge fan of covers...

Well, if it leads to getting money from drawing rather than having to temp, I'm all for it. I am really dreading going into an unfamiliar office next week.

And the last of my three Newsarama talks is up on that site now. If you're so bored you literally have nothing else to do, you can read that here.

Oh, and there's also this on Comicon.com's The Pulse.

The Eric Stephenson gab-a-thon continues at Newsarama today with this tastyinterview about the state of Image Comics. And that's "tasty," as in "mind numbingly dull discourse on comics and the people who make them" to you.

In other news, though, that new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album is pretty damn good. Kinda like the Rollin' Stones in their LET IT BLEED period...
margot_dent:
BRMC is pretty good, just started listening to them recently.

My comics came today...THANK YOU SO MUCH. i am giddy as a schoolgirl. feel free to IM me any time about indieclick or whatever.
margot_dent:

That LONG HOT SUMMER interview is up here.

The always awesome Brian Scot Johnson over at Khepri.com just informed me he's spotlighting LONG HOT SUMMER in the Image section of the site. If you're interested in picking the book up and don't live near a comic book store (or for shame! your store doesn't stock the book), you can buy online here. (FOUR-LETTER WORLDS is available for order on the site...
