Great pics! You've been to more of the notable places around here in the last several months than I have living here my whole life.

Hello Everyone! I have been in this group for about 6 months. Luckily, during my cross country trip I got the add so that I could get info on moving to PDX from Philly back in April. I am settled in and located in Multnomah Village! Anyone nearby?!! I have been here over 3 months now and have done some exploring. I absolutely love this...

Congrats! You've already found everything of interest locally. tongue Actually, you missed New Seasons Market. Raleigh Hills is probably their closest location to your area. I don't see McMenamin's on your list, either. Pittock Mansion might be another spot worth visiting. They seem to be woefully underfunded, so large sections of the place have been off-limits to visitors when I've been there because they haven't been able to renovate.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is another place to visit if you want a day or weekend away. And if you are in that area, Cape Perpetua, a little further south, is one of my favorite places on the coast.

If I think of any others, I'll post them.

Hello Sg Fam!
I am on my travels and its awesome! I have been to Pittsburgh, Cleveland and now I am in Chicago! I am eating a wonderful turkey sausage and cheese sandwich and drinking a vanilla latte at a bar that I am guessing is a coffee shop during the day? I love that its across from Starbucks and no one is going there....

My trip is closer than a big sticky arm attached to a fellow bus rider. Packing boxes, throwing away trash. It's all happening. I have no job for the first time in forever and it still doesn't feel real. Monday I am Pittsburgh bound. Then Akron, Oberlin, Elkhart, Cleveland, Chicago,Des Moines, Kansas City, Omaha, Lincoln, Ogallalla, Rawlins, Salt Lake, Jackson, Boise, Portland. Exciting adventures await...

Congratulations on finding a place. I think you'll really like Multnomah Village. As others have mentioned, it is very close to downtown Portland and has some really nice amenities. Annie Bloom's is a great little bookstore.

Happy Belated Birthday, as well. smile

Thank you!

Felony Flats Repost sorry! Ok, I have searched and I can't find an answer so I'm sorry if I just missed it. I'm moving to Portland and I found a cute little place. BUT it's right near Lents park and everyone is saying RUN!! How current are the "felony flats" rumors/facts? First, can you tell me the exact streets you would consider in the "felony...

I have yet to see a local group (I'm in the Sac, San Jose, and Central Valley groups) that wasn't almost completely lifeless. Probably same thing there.

I know what you're talking about, though. When I first moved to the south bay area, everyone always told me to run away from East Palo Alto, but I think it likely was because of rich snobby people. We never did end up in EPA, but during the time we lived in Palo Alto and Mountain View, the newspapers reported more violence within Palo Alto than in East Palo Alto. But hey, I never lived there, so no way to know for sure. But I at least suspect it was snobbiness more than reality. I can definitely report as absolute fact that Palo Alto is chock-full of obnoxious, rich snobs who're certain of how much better they are than everyone else.

Happy birthday!
