I love volunteering in the library. Little known fact about me, I worked in my home town library as summer intern when I was home for the summer while in college. One of the reasons I like the movie Party Girl so much: That movie made working in the library really cool! It...

"Let me tell you something, funny boy... You know that little stamp? The one that says Public Library? Well, that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole helluva lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before - flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... Why's this woman making such a big stink about old library books? Let me give you a hint, junior. Maybe we can live without libraries, people like you and me.... Maybe. Sure, we're too old to change the world. What about that kid, sitting down, opening a book right now in a branch of the local library and finding pictures of pee-pees and wee-wees in The Cat in the Hat and The Five Chinese Brothers. Doesn't he deserve better? Look, if you think this is about overdue fines and missing books, you'd better think again. This is about that kid's right to read a book without getting his mind warped. Or maybe that turns you on... Maybe that's how you get your kicks... You and your goodtime buddies... I've got a flash for you, joy boy. Partytime is over."

I see you...hair up in a bun...short skirt...and dancing among the books to Cherry Pie by Warrant... Does every fantasy I have sound like the beginning of a porno? Or maybe it's just thinking about spending the holidays with my chica...
I'll text you with funny observations throughout the weekend...I'm never far from you, chica...
How to find it. It lurks in the darkest corners of my being and torments the woman I long to become. I've spent so much energy fighting who I am, desperate to become who I think I should be, all the while the balance of the two laughing at my struggle.
I saw myself through the eyes of another and was...

oh what I would not do for a little hope now.
I can't quite remember who said it (I'm sure it was some great philosopher or other professional thinker) but I read a quote basically saying that everyone has two sides to themselves, their nature: Who they are at the core of their being, and their demeanour: The 'projection' of the self onto others, or to put it more bluntly, how others percieve us.
Do we show different sides of ourselves to different people in the hopes they will think certain things about us?
Yes, absolutely. It's not even a concious decision on how we are going to portray ourselves to others, but all of us modify our behaviour to whatever situation we're in. To get a feeling of superiority, sympathy, love, friendship or whatever. It doesn't make you (or me) a bad person, social interaction is quite a minefield. You simply use what you have got to get what you can.
That's about the best way I can put it.
Perception or reality, what is more important in life?
But reality is defined by our perceptions of it, reality is such a misused word. People say things like 'It's real, I can touch it and taste it' but that's just how they perceive it. Reality doesn't exist without perception, and it could be argued that the reverse is true also.
Wow, it's a bit early in the day for existentialism from me!!!

saw my sister's new baby on Sun - humbling. Not really into babies (grew up in a large family, so I'm pretty over the broody wanting to hold them thing that people assume everyone has) but it was good to hang out and catch up
sick of me and my continual search for balance and happiness

your dilemmas, fears, worries, regrets, confused aspirations & obligations...you're not so different, many of us all share those things, you're just more honest about it than most. You (well what I know of you) and Your journal is one of the things that keeps me coming back here
"Long Engagement" is indeed a fantastic film, beautifully shot, acted, framed, timed etc etc. I have to agree the best cinema (ie stuff that truly engages you in character and story; makes you think for days after, makes you want/need to dicuss it) seems currently to come out of Spain, France & Mexico.
US cinema is (largely) vacuous, big bang, popcorn fodder with an overloud soundtrack and too much empty MTV style editing, while UK cinema is usually either twee romantic twaddle or mockney loveable rogue crap. There are of course exceptions, and the reality is it's a business; the money guys wouldn't fund the making of those kind of movies if there wasn't huge demand and therefore profit.
A while back I had a sniff of doing a film with the DoP (Director of Photography) who shot Long Engagement and Amelie... which would have been magnificent, what a guy to meet and watch in action

But, I do hope the absences are for th very best of reasons
The first day of school can be such a daunting time...what always used to help me was every year my mom would tell me..."everyone is in the same boat" and for some reason it would put my mind at ease to know that my fear was justified because others were feeling it too. There's comfort in numbers, I suppose. Sounds like the only thing the boy needs to worry about is filling up his little black book with numbers on the first day... Such a ladies man...
Yes, all kinds of eye candy...that is for certain. And you know how I am abou the uniforms...*swoon-worthy* indeed...he was adorable, with cute dimples. I was telling Teddy about him today, and I think he got a little jealous, that was funny...
You have a great morning, chica...drink up...gotta keep up with the boy...and I'll give you a call this afternoon.
I'm also addicted to So You Think You Can Dance. Makes me wish I never gave up dancing. So instead of...

Hmmm...maybe you're waiting for me in the windy city? Thanks for all the love on my page, chica...you know the dealio, you've been my daily phone call for a while now, huh? I think it's time to dust off and come play with Josie again...come back to SG, sweetness...
BTW...I did watch part of INXS last night, and laughed at the fact that I was falling asleep, gawd, I guess I really am a geezer now... Dave Narvaro though...*sssswwwooonnnn-worthyyyyy* my GOD he's beautiful. I like the show though, it's just odd that they are competing to be a part of INXS when from what I saw, they are all too good to be a part of that band...
So, chica, this is your 3 minute warning...red rover, red rover...send Miss Catie right over...
OH and I love Miss Bete's fantasy...
(yes... i used "ya" in a phrase! EEEK!)
everything is cool here... i've started to hate my job.

Of the many things Ive learned in the past year, one of the most important lessons is that I need to bring both sides of my personality closer to the center, closer together, begin to merge my two lives. Ive learned that in order for both to survive they must live together in harmony. To do this I must...

Well, I just got out of my board meeting and they are all over kissing my ass...I'm not sure what the hell Ted has said to them, but two of them wanted to make sure that I was indeed coming back from "vacation." Maybe they should offer me more money to ensure that I do, huh?
Yes, you and I SHOULD live closer, like next door from one another. There is this episode of Grace Under Fire, remember that show? Well, Grace and Nadine were best friends and lived next door...Nadine and her husband Wade were talking about moving like a mile down the street like a mile, and she tells her husband..."Wade, we CAN'T move..." and he says..."Geeze Nadine it's only a mile away..." and she says, "yeah, I know, but I'm afraid I'd never see YOU." I thought of that when you said we should live closer...we would have to have some very understanding significant others.
Happy lunching today...I'll talk to you this afternoon.
Feeling much better.
como estas, mi amiga?
I wouldn't say you sounded like a mum. But, yes, you did make me feel very guilty and shamefaced! But then again you see, you're incredibly refined, whereas most of the girls of my acquaintance just... Aren't.
Oh, don't you worry about me forgeting you, when I'm finally elevated to ruler of the world, I'll have a place for you at my right hand!
