Happy Winter Holiday of your choice!
I decided to play hookey from work today. It is the first day I've had to myself in ages. feels AWESOME.
I need a bit of advice:
say you are involved in a project with some folks. Not like, for work or school, but like, say it was a bandmate, or something, or say, someone you're doing a show with.
You are the director. One of the people you are working with is starting to become a bit of a diva. Attitude is kind of a downer. Not like, emo downer. just...never really seems excited to be there. And lets say, last night, she comes to rehersals and says she has nothing to reherse because she doesnt have everything ready that she needs because she was going to have a friend help her with some stuff but he's out of town and blah blah blah. You offer her a workaround and she says no because its not "how she works".
She says she may just change what she's going to do with the first show. You say ok and ask her to send you details before next rehersal so you can make sure its going to work with the rest of the show. She looks at you like you just asked if you could eat out her grandma or something...
So, you call her the next day and leave a message that there are some "converns" you need addressed and ask to meet over coffee.
What do you say at that meeting. Part of me wants to go "look. I dont know if you know what the title of Director or Producer means...but it means me. Not you. There is no room for a prima donna, missy! You're walkin a thin line and you best be shapin up. You better check yo'self before you wreck yo'self!" but I have to be more professional. What do you say. Do you give another chance? If so, what do you tell her?

If the show could take her or leave her then just be blunt and tell her that there are only two ways things are going to work. Either you work as a team or you leave because any show needs a central singular person in charge otherwise you will just have chaos.
