It was sad. He was an amazing guy - people either loved or hated him. Quite apart from founding and running Factory, he was also one of the local news reporters in the NW of England, so I grew up with him on the TV almost every night. I think 24 Party People references it with him doing some daft hang gliding article.
The one US band I was really into in the mid eighties was REM - around Fables of the Reconstruction time. I went with a friend to see them at the Powerhouse Ballroom in Birmingham - a tiny venue - and they were amazing. We slid down the chute into the beer cellar to try to get in free....but it didn't work!

Yesterday, driving home from school was like your drive from Florida, just alot shorter. I started to feel it in the parking lot and got the aura I get. In the car I could barely focus but knew I had to get home now or I wouldn't be able to. Yeah there are lots of hotels and motels right by Wright State, but I did not want to go that route. Instead, I had the slowest drive home ever due to literally hitting every light as it turned red. I couldn't believe my luck. I got home, took my migraine meds, and crashed.
I tried the sex treatment last night but couldn't enjoy it and now still have the migraine today. Grah.
