Scott Frank has been writing television and films before he decided to take on the directing reins. His experience working with Steven Soderbergh and Steven Spielberg on Out of Sight and Minority Report respectively surely was a part of what convinced him to direct The Lookout, an idea that has been percolating with Frank for a very long time. It is the story of Chris...

I will be first in line to see this film. Scott Frank is a fantastic writer - Minority Report is underrated genius-level filmmaking all around in my opinion, and it's probably Cruise's best work, too - and Frank has the mentors to, in theory, make a relatively smooth transition to the director's chair, so I will watch this film with great interest.

Also, DRE (and SG): I appreciate the fact that the technical information in the article was not just accurate, but included in the first place. As SG reaches a wider audience, the need for the creative content to speak to it's reader's varying - and occasionally high - levels of experience / awareness / aspirations in various fields will grow. Interviews like many we've seen recently are a great step in that direction, so thanks to all concerned. smile

Susan Seidelman cemented her place in film history when she went from directing the independent film Smithereens to the cult classic Desperately Seeking Susan which helped launch Madonnas career. ok, if u were in hell and forced to watch one movie over and over again (ie as soon as it ends it begins again) what would it be?

the idea isnt that it would be your favorite movie, because YOU WILL grow to hate it. it has to be the only thing your mind will ever grow to understand again. u will watch it...

Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia.

Any mid-period Peckinpah movie really, but AGarcia really sums up everything about the darker side of the human condition, and when you're in hell, what else are you going to want to know?

I didnt realize that Peter Steele would be so damn funny. When I first called him for our interview, he answers the phone in that scratchy baritone of his New York City Department of Corruption I hung up the phone in disgust because I thought I had the wrong number. Luckily when I called back Steele and I got a good laugh out of it....

In his 30 year career of writing, directing and producing movies, John Carpenter has made more people mess their pants than Billy Madison. He is best known for directing the original Halloween, The Thing and more recently he was unofficially inducted into the Masters of Horror by directing two episodes in the first two seasons. For his latest episode Pro-Life, recently released on DVD, Carpenter...

Im not one for spiritual journeys where I discover crap inside myself but I know that if I ever went on one, I would want David Carradine with me. Carradine is best known as Caine the star of Kung Fu and more recently as the titular subject of Quentin Tarantinos Kill Bill. For the first time in his 50 year career Carradine decided to keep...

Once youve made it to the height of your chosen field, what do you do next? Well according to Tool and A Perfect Circle singer Maynard Keenan, what satisfies him at this point is crushing grapes in his backyard. If that sounds like fun to you CBT fans then youre missing the point. Keenan has figured it out, hes taken his love for wine and...

Reading over this thread, I'm really starting to hate V For Vendetta. I loved it when it came out, but the amount of stuck-up pseudo-radical political elitists that wave it around like some kind of factual account of the wrongs of society is getting ridiculous. It's no surprise to me that a guy making a completely off-the-wall asshole conspiracy theory has V in his avatar.

Back to fawning over Maynard. Please more.
eroticgeek:
Great interview. Always been a fan of Maynard and all of his projects. Puscifer is haunting in my opinion, but that makes me like it even more. To me A Perfect Circle seems more commercialized. *Please do not hate me* That is just my opinion. I love A Perfect Circle just the same. Maynard is truly a talented man. He may be unique, but that is what makes him even that more likable in my opinion. ROCK ON!

Adam Warren is probably best known by SuicideGirls as the writer and artist on the American version of the Manga, Dirty Pair. But in more recent years he has turned to more mainstream work for companies like Marvel and DC. In fact he is writing and drawing an Iron Man miniseries, called Iron Man: Hypervelocity which has its third issue coming out this month. But...

drventure:
One of my treasures is the sketchbook he released as a dojinshi in Japan, featuring quite a lot of naughty damsel in distress art featuring popular anime characters. I love his art, but also the heavy sci-fi edge to his writing. There's very little in the way of good sci-fi comics, and most have a humor element for some reason. Phil Foglio's Buck Godot is another. I'd love more DP as well, or the DP "side story" with Shasti and her late partner before she went rogue.
