Though Stanley Kubrick is my favorite director, my favorite films are Casablanca, by Michael Curtiz, and Young Frankenstein, by Mel Brooks.
Both are from classic Hollywood and represent critically acclaimed works in their respective genres (drama and comedy).
Memorable visuals, timeless lines that have worked their way into the pop culture lexicon, and well recognized stars have made these films an important part of American culture if not international in some cases.
