Just finished watching The Bridge
I am unsure as to how to translate this movie..
On one hand it shows the shocking and confronting images of people actually plummeting to this worlds end...
On the other hand, it shows the courage, conviction and increadible ends to which people may go to relieve their demons.
i was simply oar-struck first by the stunning visual opening sequence of the bridge itself. A beautiful sight.
Quickly washed away as i then watched the first man casually climb the railing and leap as if stepping from a tram. I felt perverse in watching, yet compelled to keep watching and what followed was the dissection (all be it brief) of these peoples fragile lives as told by family and friends. Then I realised, these people interviewed to help us 'norms' understand the decisions made by their departed, seemed not to identify at all with them ( save Wally and Caroline).
I felt as if these souls had truer support base in their lives, perhaps they would not of felt so disconnected from humanity..
I feel a great film will make you think and ponder on its content long after you have watched it. It will change/challenge your perception of what you though you knew of the world around you.
I believe this is one of those films.
