whew... well I went back to work officially yesterday... I took my first day off in 3 months on Sunday.... I know its very un-Australian of me to have not chucked a sicky at least once a month... but I dont get paid if I dont show up to work... I still might not get paid if I show up to work and sit there for 8 hours waiting for someone to walk through the door... which is what happened yesterday but hey I needed to get back into the groove of things....
Saturday Adrian and I went to Taronga Zoo.. its Sydney's zoo on this crazy sort of cliff and you start at the top of the zoo and work your way down to the bottom to the harbour and then catch a ferry back to the city.. .the views from the zoo are incredible just the whole city splayed out right in front of you... and like 99% of the exhibits are totally humane and cool.. I usually get sad when I see animals all caged up but all of the exhibits are close to the animals natural habitat as possible.... except the elephants.... but they are building the elephants the massive asian rainforest for them to frolic in with a big waterfall and other animals it would cohabitate in the forest with thats going to be finished in 2 years time.. I'm excited about that it looks cool.... the zoo is under going major refurbishment.. they've already finished one section.. the asian elephant rainforest is going to be the 2nd... and the rest of the stages are all going to be finally completed in 12 years time.... its huge... but they are aiming to basically have complete and massive natural habitats for all animals (they have them now but they are quite small compared to the fucking themeparks they are going to make for the animals in the future)
It was such a cool day.. the sun was pouring out of the sky... there wasnt a cloud.. and even though its the middle of autumn I was walking around in a muscle t...... it was one of the nicest days I've had in a long time... the bears and the snow leopards were so cute... but I think my favourites as always were the pink flamingos and the red pandas....
whats your favourite animal at the zoo?
