The blind date turned into a double date with her friends (wife, husband, child). I'm glad it worked out that way. The conversation flows a lot better with more mouths.
Here's the breakdown:
- met them at Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney
- she's from Japan and has lived here for the past 14 years
- HEAVY Japanese accent (I guess she doesn't speak English very much. Her friend is also from Japan, married to an American, and her accent is almost nonexistent.)
- I ordered a small pizza and she shared a huge Caesar salad with her friend.
- I offered her a slice, which she accepted
- hardly looked at me
- I asked about her job, hobbies, family
- her friend asked me about my job, hobbies, family
- friend's husband paid for dinner - would not accept any payment from me
- I offered to buy dessert at some shop
- walked around and she spoke a lot about golfing with her co-workers (I don't golf)
- stopped at the Disney store
- I noticed that she stuck close to me, but I wanted to get away so I could buy her something
- got away
- bought little Mickey and Minnie porcelain figures for her and a couple of cars for her friend's kid
- stopped at a bakery and the two girls went inside and bought pastries and coffee for themselves. The husband and I didn't want anything.
- I totally forgot about paying for dessert
- walked to cars (they all came in one car)
- gave her the porcelain figures
- asked her if she is busy next weekend, then quickly corrected myself and asked if she would like to meet again
- she said that she is busy next weekend with friends, but would like to meet up again (didn't seem too enthusiastic)
- I got her email address
- I wasn't sure how to say goodbye, so I shook her hand and thanked her for a nice evening
- her friend didn't see that and she turned to me and gave me a small hug
- the end
My friend emailed me today and wrote:
"couldn't get much out of her...."
"she's the type of person that keeps to herself & is very shy...."
"you need to take the initiative & contact her...."
"don't feel bad if she doesn't contact you...."
"just keep trying & good luck...."
This is the email I just sent her:

It was a pleasure meeting you last night. I really had a great time! It always nice to relax and walk around with good company.
If you are not busy, would you like to get dinner one night or on a weekend when you are free? If you prefer, we could always do the group thing again. I think your friend wants to kick everyone's butt in bowling. :-)
Have a great week!!!

What do you think?
EDIT: It's been almost six hours and still no answer to my email! This is torture!
EDIT 2: Even if this doesn't work out, at least I am back in the game.
EDIT 3: I want those porcelain figures back!
