Ugh. Haven't updated in a while I guess
We're currently relocating our office to a new location. Packed up all the furniture today for the movers to take tonight.
The servers are moving tomorrow; that ought to be fun. Shit keeps happening because people are NOT doing what we told them to do. Is expecting people to do what I tell them to fucking do too much to ask? Are my standards too high? Appearently.
The first fuckup was with our bandwidth provider. We scheduled the migration of our circuit and IP blocks (several class Cs) for Nov. 5th. Everything confirmed... good to go.... until we received a call on tuesday that they won't be able to do switch the circuit until the 19th. Umm? What? And our clients go without services for two weeks? I don't fuckin' think so. So after much wrangling, yelling, and threatening physical violence, the new circuit was tested today and is ready for switchover tomorrow. Now was that so fucking difficult?
Today I find out that the separate AC in the serverroom won't be hooked up until Monday. In addition to that, the 30amp outlets for the UPS units are missing. Lots of 15 amp outlets... no 30s. Great. After more yelling and screaming, an electrician is coming by tomorrow to "fix" this and hook up the AC. Now how fucking hard is it to follow the fucking blue prints? The timeline? The discussions we had about this with them? Holy shit people piss me off. Is everyone a fucking useless waste of skin?
My desk/office is outside the server room. I wanted a 4-plex RJ45 keystone jack punchthrough from the server room into my office. Discussed multiple times, on the blue prints.... confirmed. What did they install? 4 single jacks. What the fuck? Plus they look like they were installed by a blind dude. Ever heard of a fucking level? A measuring tape? Hello. There's no need for them to be crooked, not flush with the wall, and an uneven distance from the floor.
I know not everything will always be perfect, but at least do what I fucking tell you to some acceptable standard.
I hate people... I hate people so very, very much.
