There's a lot that can happen in a few seconds...nothing major like an accident or the like but just a minor shift has rippling effects. In fact, major events tend to dissipate faster and the ramifications are known immediately.
Subtle events like banging your knee or minor delays have the greatest effect on your future. The reasoning is simple: outcomes to large events can be predicted because the ramifications and large. There are few large responses to a large event and the correct choice(s) can be counted quickly.
Smaller events happen all the time, should I watch an extra hour...should I post a comment...open that door? eat that cereal, did I put too much cereal in? Minor things that we don't notice but our contact with each other is so limited and meetings happen in an instant that every instant preceding it matters.
That's why there's always a yearning to do certain things, because you may meet your one special somebody...but you may not if you take too long to tie your shoes, or you tie them too fast...or maybe I should wear boots. That's when you know that you'll never meet anybody because a perfect series of events leads to nobody and you don't know how perfect you are.
