So this weekend was a blast.
I went to My instructor David Svensons home with my buddy Cora and a couple of classmates. I guess every year David holds this big potluck ceramic fire called a Raku.
In a Raku you glaze bisque ware and then fire it in make shift kilns,
after the pieces are fired they are place in trashcans filled with debris and newspaper and the chemical fire that is caused in the cans creates discoloration with odd results. Unglased portions of the pieces just go black while other parts change color or marblize. it is really great. i met some really great down to earth people who were really genuine and nice. Lots of beer, and barbeque, all good.
I also visited Wako in hollywood which is such an awesome bookstore.
Wako also houses the Luz de Jesus gallery witch is one of the best gallerires for lowbrow art. I plan to submits some things for there yearly group show.
I had fun and the heat felt good now I am back in craptastic SF.
