I'm gonna bitch about military right now because it's the only place I can do it. I am friends with too many of my Soldiers on Facebook, so I don't want them to see their leader bitching.
Anyway I watch an E8, who everyone thinks is badass, get punked by an E7 the other day. He told her to stretch everyone out after the road march and she told him no I think I'm stretched out enough, I don't need to stretch anymore. And he let her get away with it. That was the second bit of respect gone. The first is he is a micromanager. Then I was standing with my hands in my pockets, which the Army personnel know is wrong, and on a side note, I am an O2, he turns and looks at me and snaps at me "Get your dangone hands out of your pockets!". I let it go but I shouldn't have but in front of the whole formation I wasn't going to put him in his place so I let that one slide, 3rd bit of respect gone. Then I had a VIP visitor in my Post Office the other day an O5. I gave him a great briefing about our operation and everything that goes into it. On the way out the same E8, the company First Sergeant, says how many times did you call him Sir? I replied a few, he said no you didn't say it once. I said ok Top, good bye.
Then my Platoon Sergeant is an E8 also, and he has problems when I correct E7 or above. So we had a long talk the other day and I asked him if he was more worried about pleasing Batallion or the Platoon. He said the Platoon and I played the bullshit card. I told him if that is so then he needs to get out and be with his Soldiers and stop letting the First Sergeant run him. I also told him that I think he has an issue with me, an O2 telling senier NCO's what is right and wrong and standing up to them. I told him I think you think that O2's should cower in front of senior NCO's. Guess what I have been in the army for 10 years and was E6 before I became an officer. I am not new to this and if you are wrong or an idiot you will hear about it from me.
Anyway thank you for listening.
Have a great day, and by the way I love the Army, it is the idiots that I hate.
