Election reform is a hot topic with me. For years I have felt that all federal elections should be publicly funded. There should be an extra amount that we pay on our taxes when we file. I don't know what the amount should be but I feel that is the way it should be. When you win the primary you would be given a certain amount to spend and that is it. TV stations would have to give you a certain amount of time, free of charge and that is all you get. That way no one can buy an election like we just had with the Presidency. You don't get to win because you had your own tv channel and you spent twice as much as your opponent. Then there is also no question as to who gave you money over the internet.
This would take all federal politicians out of the socalled pocket of corporate america and make them solely responsible to the people that are paying for them. I also feel this would end negative campaigning because you have a limitted amount to spend and you want to spend it wisely getting your word out. But in this age of soundbites, who knows what will work.
I have not heard a politician in years actually say how they plan to do what they say they will do. They say they are going to do this but not how it will get done and how it's going to be paid for.

I don't have the answer for you - more government interference always leads to MORE problems, not fewer. Anyway with BO in the Whitehouse we are gonna pay the price for years fo socialized schools and all sorts of massive governement interventionist programs that have taught the once proud people of America to act like whining little brats seeking a handout. That won't be fixed in a day, may not be fixed without bloodshed.
