It's a cultural thing, and a pretty stupid one at that. Luckily we have some decent examples of cultures where Women are empowered by all that they are, and not shamed... I personally blame religion and all the deep vestiges that permeate a given society as a weapon for men to try and control women ... Shameful and it's time we were better than that...
