For the majority of my life I was straight edge. No alcohol, no drugs of any kind. I didn't like the feeling of my brain not being my own. Having lived most of my life with chronic health issues, several years ago I did start exploring CBD and then THC to alleviate pain/anxiety.

Over the last few years I've also leaned into weed recreationally -...

Just thinking about all my SG friends and the SGHQ folks in LA and hoping everyone is safe from the fires πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’œ

weedfarmer:
It's terrible I spent 24 hours looking for my friend's in LA County California. I found them eventually and they lost their house in the Palisades LA neighborhood. I hope everyone in our SG family is okay.

I agree, my thoughts are with all people in that area

Health stuff crashed quite a bit recently, haven't been able to run or do much at all for a couple weeks. May be a heart issue (I get a heart monitor tomorrow) or thyroid (waiting on blood test results). Really hoping thyroid as that's an easy fix! On the plus side, all the recent couch time has meant a lot of Baldur's Gate 3 time,...

I struggle with slowing down - but am just wrapping up a really nice week and a half off. I did spend several days of that backpacking, which maybe is not so much relaxing or slow haha. But it was a good mental reset! Especially since I adopted a new kitten right after getting home. Which has made lazing around at home a lot more...

"What is a piece of art that you have, or would love to have, hanging on your wall or sitting in your house?"

I just moved recently, so I'm still sort of getting things situated with what's getting hung where.

That said, in the last few places I've lived I've had a couple different iterations of my mirror wall. I thrifted a bunch of mirrors...

Thanks @fredhincanada for the great idea, and @kiley for putting me onto it!

Tell us about one of your favorite songs of all time.

At any given time, I tend to have 2-3 favorite songs: there's my favorite song of all time, and my favorite song(s) of the moment.

A moment might be a day, a week, months, or even up to a year. Often...

πŸ‘‹πŸ»πŸ‘‹πŸ» I'm alive πŸ˜…

It's been hectic! But mostly good? I moved and started a new job this past month, which was why I've been pretty quiet. Also finally ran my marathon!

I bought a house! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜πŸ’œ I didn't think that was going to happen for a while after the great deal I had over the summer fell through, but the realtor I worked with...

NICE JOB!! We did SKB to PR to BA back in May (only 19 miles), but three of our group did rim-to-rim-to-rim (43-ish miles). Β Going again next year.

And we're going to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim! I've done the r2r a few times now, but it'll be @adastra's first time. It's one of my favorite hikes - I just think it's so incredibly beautiful and special and I'm so excited to share it with my best friend πŸ₯°

This is actually our second time going to the Grand Canyon together...

Great photos. Have you hiked to the turquoise pools? You should hike down into the canyon past the Havasupai check point, all the way to Moony Falls. When I was younger. I spent Thanksgiving Week camped above the falls. We cooked a ham and a turkey in a rock oven that we constructed. It was very cold, Snow was on the rims. And the days were so short because the sun was so low in the sky that the canyon walls blocked the light. Long 14-16 hour nights. A wonderful memory, just like your fantastic photos.

It's sort of felt like 2024 has had it out for me from the get go πŸ˜…. Every time it feels like the dust is settling, something new. I'm trying to find some grace in it, and in myself. Everything is a learning experience.

Bear with me. I know I get rambly on a good day sometimes, and it's currently well past my bed time....
