On what alternate Earth are there working cassette players?
mrwaverly:
I have a very good double deck by Teac.both decks still work perfectly. That's because I amassed thousands of tapes. I made hundreds of mixtapes for people, and got loads back. The people i was friendly with used to like my tapes, because I would include chunks of film dialogue, or sound effects between tracks, or I would do edits of tracks to extend them. I once extended a Marc Almond track called 'Split Lip' to fill one side of a C-90 cassette. That was for a friend who wanted to annoy timewasters in his little comic shop. I very much enjoyed making mixtapes, and would spend a long time making the covers. Track listings would be in near microscopic writing, done with a mapping pen, and for a series I did for a girlfriend that were full of predominantly Industrial music, I sprayed the cases inside and out with grey primer, and wrote straight on to that, and making stencils to overspray the outside. It's not as fun with CD-ROM's...
