if you ever get some time and motivation, I would recommend that you read them all. Hesse is a brilliant author, and I have made it a point to read all of his works. Pynchon is just a genius. it's a long novel, slow in the beginning, but very entertaining. his vocabulary is amazing. the metamorphosis is really good, and pretty silly is a way. The main character tranforms into a bug, what could be cooler than that? And Don Quioxte is a classic.

I'm with you on the beat writers, they're an amazing group. kerouac, ginsberg, burroughs, etc. talk about a group that was mad about life.
i picked up Joyce's book second hand not to long ago. haven't started it yet, but definately will.

I think most of it will involve music (me listening to it), art (me making it) and good wine (goes without saying).
I was thinking of heading up to Brissie, but that'll have to wait till next time when funds are more flexible.

I actually had to research your post because I was clueless. Now I know about ANZAC day, Gallipoli (though I saw the movie), that I would make my biscuits without coconut (I hate coconut), and that two-up sounds like a great way to lose money.
