doesn't sound like such a horrible itch! @charliegurl guess you'll be ahead of me, I'm back in CA from June25-July3, very much intending to spend a couple of those days on the Kern.  Springhill South is the nicest campground above Kernville, usually the good spots by the river are taken tho.  Ant Canyon is my "secret spot" since it doesn't look like much but there's more than one good place to camp there
